harvoni and Marijuania?

Hi All

This is Day One for me on Harvoni. I am scheduled for a 8 week program and so very hopeful and excited about being cured of this Monkey on my back for the last 30 years.
My great Doctors have been telling me for 20 plus years to take care of my health, DON'T drink and they will cure Hep C.
It looks like they were right! I have been careful not to drink (Other than a very Occasional glass of wine or a beer) ....... but have been a daily Pot user for the last 20 years.
So I was planning on giving up the pot for the next eight weeks but wonder if it is really necessary?
Any thoughts?

Thanks for your coments... I live in Colorado and so yes it is a question they asked. I told them that I had used pot to control the nausea for years. I expected them to tell me to not use during the treatment but they only said
"it is a new drug and we do not know all of the interactions yet"
I think that not using and giving the drug every chance possible is the right answer.

If you do, and the tx fails, you will always wonder if that contributed to the failire.

Please do everything you can to give the meds their best chance to get this beast.

Having said that, it is your body, your life, your choice.

Curious does your dr know you smoke  I my self probably wouldn't while on treatment but that's me  I do like to have a couple of wines on a Saturday with friends and dinner not a drop during treatment and yes maryj goes through body different but every thing is filtered through liver and it does give a high so that's how I see it  what ever you decide and are comfortable with its your choice  with that being said I will enjoy dinner out with friends next week

That's a question for your doctor about taking herbal suppliments while on Harvoni.  Some interfer with the treatment drug being effective.  There are other requirement concerning pot use and getting on Hep C treatment.  The best place to start is to run your concerns past your doctor.
