I have been off my meds for 5 weeks.  Feeling much better, but I have started having really bad headaches that last 2 or three days.  Just wondered if anyoe else has experienced this?  Thanks

Hi there -

We have a migraine/headache tracker here, if you are thinking of tracking the headaches - http://www.medhelp.org/user_trackers/gallery/migraine

Hope you feel better soon!

You might want to take a look at migraine.com.  They have an excellent headache tracker you can utilize, and then print out so you can take it to your doctor if they don't stop on their own.

My guess would be it's just the meds flushing out of your system, but I would track them just to be on the safe side, since that's the first thing they will ask you to do if you have to get medical attention.

Congratulations on kicking the virus, but now...

How are you treating your headaches?  Tylenol?  Rest?  What do they respond to?  I'm guessing if you're having them for 2-3 days, not much.  What does your doctor say?   Agree with Idyllic that it almost doesn't matter if it's a side effect from the meds, you and your doctor need to get this under control.  Wish I had some solid advice for you, it must be awful :(

I had headaches for about a week after EOT.
Then I realized it was tension and began massaging my neck and skull.
It seemed to help.
Aspirin always gets rid of headaches for me.

thanks for commenting - you are right - treat it like any headache!!  It's just that you hear so many different symptoms after treatment - i did not have headaches before. Good luck on your treatment - most people on this site appear to be so strong and together, when i was doing meds, i could not even crawl to the computer to get the support.

I am still treating but I saw you cleared the virus so hey, there is that. The thing about effects when it seems like the meds ought to be out of your system is sometimes it helps to treat whatever is ailing you as a stand alone symptom. In other words, even if there were a connection to the HCV meds it may not change how you would treat the headache.

If cool compresses, headache medication and good ol fresh air and exercise to not help then you might want to keep a pain journal. I am not sure if one would call it that but what I mean is recording what you eat, what you do and see if there are any patterns with your headaches and possibly even triggers.

Make a note what brings them on and the circumstances they subside. Maybe if there are things that aggravate them like light, sound, smell or maybe even medications you take every day as well as supplements.

Be sure to know how to describe the pain (sharp, dull, throbbing, etc). This is all if no one has any better ideas. Being able to report this to a doctor might be a valuable diagnostic tool if the headaches persist and you still have no answers.

Sorry this is happening as I know headaches can be very incapacitating.
