Thanks for responding. I go for ultrasound and possibly hydascan(sp) this morning.
try not to have it out if possible. there are many people that are worse after having it out i.e running to bathroom 5 mins after they eat, still have pain, etc. Of course if it is that diseased you have to get it out. I think I read somewhere that people with Hep C do have more problems with gall stones especially if you have cirrhosis.
I'm not certain about the commonality of it, but for me, once I began to have gallbladder pain, there wasn't a question of trying to save it because it hurt so bad. Lots of people have theirs out every year and seem to do just fine without it. I mean, its not like your appendix, it does serve a purpose, but your body adjusts to not having it. Merrybe, here at the forum, had hers out during the middle of treatment.
The other thing is that once those attacks start, they seem to keep coming, so eventually you would probably have to have it removed. They can do testing on you, ultrasound and hydascan, to see whether you have stones and whether it is emptying correctly. If it isn't working well according to the testing, then it just seems to me like, why would you want to keep it anyway? That was how I felt.
