I must confess, I had very few positive experiences with military hospitals. Too few to rely on quality of care and service provided there. Tricare Prime is a great insurance, it covers almost everything, no questions asked, 100%.
Yes, military facilities are always better on the wallet. But not everyone lives close to one. Overall, Tricare Prime is a good economical insurance.
I am on Tri-Care Prime. They do not cover IVF, we had to pay out of pocket, we used a private clinic, but you can minimize your costs if you can use a military hospital that runs IVF program. Then you would be required to pay only for meds and storage, if needed, but not for the transfer itself.
I just wanted to thank everyone for there input on my question it did help thank you.
We have Tricare insurance. They cover very basic infertility treatments-some ovulation stimulation pills and such. They will not cover IVF.
Coverage of infertility treatments will not be affected by you being diagnosed with hepatitis C. There is information on coverage on their web site. If you have specific questions, you need to give them a call.
I don't really understand what hepC has to do with infertility that you think they might not cover it. If I had a heart attack they would have treated that when I still had hepc. Since the disease is not usually passed vertically from mother to child...(although it can be) I don't see how it would make a difference.
But then again God knows they don't want to spend any more money then they have to.
Did you have HCV when they insured you? Do they normally cover infertility treatment? They may require that you get a biopsy to see how much liver damage you have... which I would want to know before trying to have a baby. You most likely won't pass it to the baby... about a 5% chance, but you want to make sure you will be around for at least 20 years after the baby is born.
That's my opinion anyhow.
Diane
PS The only way to know for sure is for you to call your insurance company
