hep c

Just got my blood test back and everything was negative except hep c. I did try intravenous drugs like 28 years ago. Doctor is going to test again with specific hep c test to make sure not a false positive. My question is do you think this is from my iv drug use 28 years ago or from oral sex from a CSW  13 days ago? How soon can hep c antibodies develop in your blood? And can you contract hep c from oral sex, does it need to be blood transfered? Thanks

it sounds like blood tests are a better indicator once you cirrhosis and it is starting to become decompensated...but by that time, it's kind of late...

Also from what I have read, it takes quite a few years for Hep C to start damaging your liver..correct me if I'm wrong guys, but maybe 10-20 yrs?

some people have it for 30, 40 years and then start having symptoms of the liver damage, although everyone is different, some get damage quicker then others...

if you drink or do drugs, it speeds up the damage process....

I don't think there is anyway you would have  hep C or liver damage from oral sex a few weeks ago...unless your wife found out and kicked you in the liver, then maybe some damage... ha....sorry

Watching your drinking is not going to stop the hep, if you actually have it, from destroying your liver and I guees it does matter if you don't want to have to explain to your wife you been seeing hookers on the side also liver function tests are not a good indicator of liver condition, all mine were in normal ranges as well as normal ct scans with and without contrast, I was  still diagnosed with almost having cirrhosis by biopsy.

Thanks for all your input. It does kinda matter though when you're married. This was my first STD screen, so wasn't aware I had hep c. My liver functions have come back fine the last two years during my yearly checkup. I guess I will have to watch my drinking.

It really doesn't matter how you got hep C.

But yes, since you did IV drugs, that is probably how you got it.
No, you didn't get it from oral sex.

Your question is answered.

Well in fact if you do have an active HCV infection which has yet to be confirmed, IMO it would be from the drug use as HCV is not considerd an STD and risk through oral sex is very unlikely also that is really not enough time between contact with the CSW and time for antibodies to form

Sorry, that was oral sex not off sex.

Also, my blood was drawn 4 days after the recent incident mentioned above. She performed off sex for about 10 minutes on me without completion. No other contact.
