You really want to try and get to see a liver specialist (hepatologist) as soon as possible. When they did the ultrasound, did they mention anything about "ascites"?

Ascites is  a condition where fluid accumulates in the abdomen (stomach) and is sometimes associted with advanced liver disease. That doesn't mean that's the reason your abdomen is swollen has to do with ascites, but it's something to ask your doctors about.

Sorry, I don't know any liver specialists in Mississippi, but you migtht want to contact Dr. Eugene Schiff in Miami and ask him for a referral to a doctor near you. You can mention the fact that you don't have insurance, etc. Here's an email address and office number. Maybe send an email to his attention and see what happens. You can also open a new thread here with a title something like "Need a liver doctor in Mississippi". Here's the link to Dr. Schiff: http://tinyurl.com/3c4gjx

Good luck,

What part of the country do you live in? Maybe someone can direct you to a clinic where they will work with you without insurance. Did you find which type (genotype) of Hepatitis C you have? How about a biopsy? Did they do one? How did you find out you had Hepatitis C? As far as treatments go, you may not need to treat. But if you do, the drug companies offer financial assistance programs and many hospitals offer free trials. Just be sure you thoroughly check out any free trial before entering because just because it's free doesn't mean it's necessarily in your best interest.

All the best,

Sorry your last post got ignored. Colloidal silver does not work for Hepatitis C, can be dangerous, and some consider it a scam. Many here use Milk Thistle and the studies are divided on how effective it is. Not sure about alpha lippic acid, but I'm sure others will chime in. A good rule of thumb is to run any supplements your'e taking by your liver specialist. And if you've got Hep C, you probably should be seeing a liver specialist. They're called Hepatologists and can usually be found at your larger teaching hospitals.

All the best,
