how long does the Incivek stay in the body?

hello kind friends and fellow Incivek torture regimen soldiers

I am lucky to be finishing 12 weeks Incivek tomorrow. Does anyone have any idea what the side-effects of stopping are and also know perhaps how long it stays in the system?

thanks

Elimination
Following administration of a single oral dose of 750 mg 14C-telaprevir in healthy subjects, 90% of total radioactivity was recovered in feces, urine and expired air within 96 hours post-dose. The median recovery of the administered radioactive dose was approximately 82% in the feces, 9% in exhaled air and 1% in urine. The contribution of unchanged 14C-telaprevir and the R-diastereomer of telaprevir towards total radioactivity recovered in feces was 31.9% and 18.8%, respectively. After oral administration, the apparent total clearance (Cl/F) was estimated to be 32.4 L per hour with an inter-individual variability of 27.2%. The mean elimination half-life after single-dose oral administration of telaprevir 750 mg typically ranged from about 4.0 to 4.7 hours. At steady state, the effective half-life is about 9 to 11 hours.

I think everyone is different, for the most part people feel some relief after finishing the Incivek, (I had some trouble that lasted about 10 days it mainly had to do with drug interactions)
As Advocate said, once the Incivek was gone then I noticed the sx from Peg and Riba more as the Incivek seemed to overshadow the others, still a relief to finish the Incivek
Good luck to you

I finished incivek in October and I felt immediate relief.  Anal issues gone within a day and I have suffered terribly with them from day 1.  It was also a relief not to have to eat and take meds every 8 hours faithfully.  Let me tell you I was kicking up my heels.  About a month later my hgb also tanked and fell to 6.9.  It was a couple of rough months getting back into semi-normal range.  I have 2 1/2 months left on riba and peg and I feel like I can make it.  I have lost a lot of hair and 50 pounds (thank God I had some extra poundage when I started) and finally have a small appetite.  Just like completing the incivek, there is light at the end of the tunnel.  Good luck on your journey.

From what I understand from my husband's NP, the Incivek itself is eliminated from the body fairly quickly.  I think she said 3 days or something like that.  You should start to feel much better a few days after Incivek, although you may notice the side effects of Ribavirin and/or Interferon more than you do right now (since Incivek sort of overshadows everything else).

I'n with Stormy. I finished the Incivek on Jan 16th then had 3-4 days of feeling a little bit worse, mostly in terms of G.I. problems, then it lifted and I had 7-10 days of feeling absolutely wonderful. It was a great little break from feeling sick although eventually the other drugs SX began to pull me back down again - though never as far down as with the Incivek. Congratulations on making it to the end of that torture!

Hoping you're more like the posters above.  My husband actually had a tough time for about 4 days post INC, he seemed to get all of the side effects amplified as the INC left his body, then on Day 5 in the morning, the skies parted and he felt fabulous.  I can tell you he was incredibly relieved not to have to take those purple pills and fat, such a relief.

Well the only side effect I can think of would be instant relief and happiness to be off of it.lol  Many congrats, my hat is off to you for making it through the Incivek scary ride.  I would worry more about the sx's from the interferon but some people don't feel much at all.  My feeling is they're so happy to be done with tx they don't have time to worry about ill effects.  I mean if you feel bad sx's then maybe you should let your doctor know.  There are a couple of different threads about the nightmare's of tx with interferon et. al.  If you go to the archives and do a search you'll find something.

I think everyone is different, but I will relay my experience.

For me, it was great to finish Incivek. The anal problems ceased within a day or two (well, not the hemorrhoids, lol). But the fire diarrhea and fire butt stopped, within a day or two.

Overall, I felt considerably better by the day after my last dose. As the days went on I felt even better.

I think getting the drugs out of one's system really helps. Incivek does not have a long half life so it should get out of the system within a few days. I also think part of feeling better is actually getting some sleep without having to get up, fix fatty food, eat fatty food, take pills, and repeat it 3 times a day. I was exhausted by the time I finished Incivek.

So for me, it was fabulous to finish the Incivek. All positive, nothing negative.

Hope the same is true for you (and skiyaltr).

There have been a lot recent posts on the topic and will let them respond.  I am jumping into this one because my last dose of incivek is Thursday.
