loss weight before treating hcv?

I was told by my doctor if I lost 30lbs first before being treated for hep c I would have a better chance of clearing it.
I have hep c gt 1a. also biop showed 15% fatty liver and 1-2 stage of disease.  Should I wait?

Even if you don't treat now, losing weight will slow down damage to your liver. I agree with Marc -- newer drugs are on the way and you have time to wait.

You might want to wait for other reasons. Given your relatively low level of liver damage, many if not most folks now feel it makes sense to wait a few years for the new drugs now in the pipeline. They will shorten the length of treatment and make it more effective. You should definitely try to educate yourself about this before making a decision.

As far as the weight goes, it is true that being of normal weight improves treatment success rates. There are also other important reasons for trying to maintain a normal weight.
