Hey NiceGuy congratulations that is so fantastic you did it! YAY!
I'm so happy for you. I've been wondering how you were... Live long and prosper,

Way to go on the SVR! I can't wait to say those words.
I too have very strange heart beats - it's like it is beating so load and hard that I can even hear it. It does it all the time. Sometimes a big thump followed by rapid small ones but mostly just real hard pounding. Not really at all like the palpatations I've had before.
I just got a good cardio doc and saw him last week. It was strange but when I got there my heart rate was 61 then it jumped to 100 then back to 70 then to 120 all within the hour and I was just sitting there. My EKG was OK - just high rates but he ordered a Dobutamine echocardiogram (kind of like a stress test with drugs instead of the tread mill, as my RA won't allow much foot work)
He wants me to get one of the devices you mentioned Jim - the event monitor. I'm still confused on how these work. It seems that the event passes before you can pick it up and put it to your chest. I think I can select which ever one I want but need a bit more info. The one that has a halter only records 20 minutes total or every time you push the button? As soon as I get this worked out I can start tx.
Thanks much
Couldn't happen to a nicer....lol....gee, that's great, was wondering about you!!!! really good....
Happy to see you and with SVR!!!!! That is wonderful! I bet your heart palpatations are just from being sooooo happy!

CONGRATS! VERY happy for you and get out there and live your young life healthy!
Always happy to hear SVR, but the 'young kids' (kids to me:} just touch me. Couldn't imagine being hit with this, tx during those young, carefree days! But this will make you see living right is HUGE at an early age.
I have palpitations every day....have MVP (minor) and possibly you just have a murmur, something mild. Often I think there is days where we can feel these irregular heart beats more. Don't worry much, ask your Dr if it continues.
Happy 20's young man!
LL
Bravo! Well Done! Good to hear from you again, and especially with this teriffic news!
Lots of benign irregular heart beats so would not be overly concerned. If it starts to happen on a regular basis, you have the option of wearing a 24-hour halter monitor which will record and help the doctor analyze exactly what the meats signify.
If the beats are of a concern to your doctor -- but don't necessarily occur within a 24-hour period -- you can get what is sometimes called an "events" monitor. The way the one I had worked, is that if you started getting some irregular beats, you held the monitor (size of pack of cards) next to you chest and pressed the "record" button. You then transmitted the recording over the phone to a computer than analyzed the results. And, for very hard to record beats -- like ones that only occur for a few seconds and not very offen -- there's a combo version of the event and halter monitor that you wear for a month that records the last twenty minutes or so. So when you have the "event", you just hit a button and it saves the last twenty minutes capturing that event. From what you say, I doubt you need any of the above, but something to discuss with a cardiologist if they persist.
All the best,
-- Jim
Didn't treat yet but having suffered from heart palpitations for a few years I can tell you that yes they're very scary but most palpitations are harmless.
Sometimes I'll get 6-10 right in a row and sometimes some of them will even hurt. I've had mine checked out by my cardiologist and everything was normal - we figured out that the cigarettes and anxiety were the main cause of them (in my case). I've still been getting them daily but haven't stopped smoking yet.
Make sure you goto the doctor and get yours checked out. They'll probably give you a quick Electrocardiogram and may refer you to a cardiologist (if you get them regularly).
thanx guys..
the thump is big, and feels like something is moving in my chest. almost like the heart "jumps". doesnt feel liek a hearbeat though...feels bigger than a haretbeat.
Stop looking at the PORN magazines. By the way congrats on the SVR. I would tell your DR. It may be nothing but then again could be serious if it continues.
