Hey there, the above posters were very helpful.  We are all different so will all react differently to the medications

For me, when I took the first shot, it took about 5 to 6 hours before I started to feel the flu like effects.  I got a fever, chills, body aches, just like the flu.
While the first shot was the worst, they got easier as time went by.  While I never got used to feeling sick I was able to compensate and after a while I would have good sick days and bad sick days.
I was afraid of the first shot, just like you. while it was uncomfortable it was not as bad as I expected.

I wish you the best
Dee

This is a very good forum for help, support, advice.  Everyone here is very caring and kind and can help you through this.

I am sorry no-one has come along and given you some idea what to expect from the HCV medications..I actually treated with just PEG/Riba and my side effects personally were very mild.

Here is a link (below)if you are interested on some valid info concerning Geno type 2

Best of luck..
Will

Greetings. There are lots of threads devoted to this topic however I can't seem to find very many recent ones.

Here is one for another person treating with SOC:

I only treated with the Peg and Riba for 19 weeks and I did OK. The day after the Interferon shot can be rough but I was able to work full time and even travel. As far as side effects, I did take lots and lots of Tylenol and drank lots of water and that really seemed to help.

I developed Hyperthyroid and almost had to go on a beta blocker but ended up being OK. I treated in the fall/winter and looking back I am glad I timed it that way since I was hot all the time. Oddly, this time around I developed Hypothyroid. Go figure). I did lose a lot of hair which was kind of a bummer.

Like you I was very scared. What helped allay most of my fear and anxiety is reading lots and lots of posts of people who were treating as well (or treated and cleared the virus in the past). That may have been easier to do back then since now since many people on here are Geno 1 and taking meds that have a different side effect profile that would not apply to you.

Plus hanging around the forum helped in other ways as well since I did not know anyone else treating the virus in my personal life. I did not share with many people that I even had the virus back then. I would have been lonely and thinking a lot of inaccurate things if I did not participate on this forum.

Either way there are LOTS of people on here who have treated with just the Peg and Riba before so there will be no shortage of responses to your post as the day progresses.

Hang in there and best of luck to you.
