You should get as much information as you can, and find supportive and the correct type of doctors, as you were instructed by Marc1955. You can also search through the archives here on this site. I found the web sites for the medications helpful, only to the extent of how to give yourself the injections. When needing real and quick questions answered this site was the one. You will always need help on Saturday night at 10:30pm and the members here have always helped me out right away. Once you get your insurance and doctors squared away. Surround yourself with possitive, supportive friends and family as well as the medhelp family. If so you will do FANTASTIC!
Good luck!
This is what happens to all of us. We're just getting along with our lives and all of a sudden we get this news out of the blue.
It's important to understand that HCV is a slow moving virus so you need to relax. It's going to take some time – perhaps six to nine months – to just get a picture of where things stand. But you've got that time so a sense of urgency will only increase your anxiety.
If possible, you should try to find a hepatologist to consult with. This is a doctor who specializes in liver ailments. A general practitioner does not know enough about the illness to give you sound advice. The hepatologist will order a number of tests to get a better picture of your medical condition. You should definitely read everything you can. This board is a great source of (mostly) reliable information. Also, when you do get your test results, if you have questions you can post them here and get a good response. Remember to keep a copy of all your test results.
Good luck!
Hi Samanbessa:
Don't be terrified. (Easier said than done.) I'm in the same boat. Recently diagnosed. The group of people here are very helpful. My understanding is that most insurance DOES cover the treatment. Call your insurance company to find out and put your anxieties to rest.
