It is very important to see a hepatologist for hepatitis C. Not an internist, not a gastroenterologist.

Once you've done that, you can evaluate your treatment options. There are many factors that go into deciding which TX is right for you.

I did SOC (ifn/riba) for 48 weeks in 2007-2008, and the virus came back 13 weeks after tx was finished. Just started a 12 week txt using Sovaldi+Olysio+riba, and have high hopes that this time the tx will "take".

However, finding a hepatologist is the first step to getting treated.

Hi welcome to the forum

The American Association for the study of liver diseases have released their recommendations for testing, managing, and treating hepatitis C. This is a link to the information: http://www.hcvguidelines.org/sites/default/files/full_report.pdf

I have hep c Genotype 1a with cirrhosis and have treated 3 times and been a null responder to previous treatment. I am taking Sovaldi with Olysio. This is an off label usage. I will be taking these for a total of 12 weeks I just started week 5.

Some are taking Sovaldi with Ribavirin and some Sovaldi,  Ribavirin and interferon. Just depends on what prior treatment they have done, what the current condition of their liver, and what Genotype they are.

Read the document see your liver specialist.

Good luck,
Lynn
