I just want to learn what there is out there now for new therapies for 1a advanced to first stage cirrhosis if anything. I read somewhere 3 years before they will have a good one and it will cure 80Percent but don't know if that would include us with Cirrhosis.  Just wondering if anyone knows if there has been any success with treatment or if they have received treatment with cirrhosis?

If you have compensated cirrhosis, you should do one if the triple therapies now (Incivek or Victrellis). You shouldn't wait for the new therapies, because your cirrhosis could progress while you're waiting. Your hepatologist can prescribe an anti depressant and something for anxiety to help with those side effects.

It is my understanding that if you are already cirrhotic (compensated I assume) your window of opportunity to treat could close if you should progress to decompensated and for some that can happen sooner than later. I hope some of our more knowledgeable members will post to clarify that for you, but one, Can-do-man, has already posted "being your cirrhotic treatment is something you really need to do and soon" and he's not just being dramatic.
As Idyllic said, the anxiety and depression can be managed and many have had to deal with it. It sounds to me that your choice is to treat and manage it now, or to not treat and possibly need a transplant down the road.
It is not my intention to alarm you, but I had ten years of doctors rather downplaying my need to treat and then it was almost too late.
Keep watching this thread and hopefully you'll get more enlightened information.

The meds can cause depression but there are ways to manage it. Actually it is Interferon that is associated with depression. It can trigger or exacerbate certain things. This is not to say it will but If you suffer from it now or even bouts of anxiety it is best to have an evaluation now and seek treatment for it now or a few months prior to treatment (I think anyway). I have been on my share of psychoactive meds and I can tell you the first one you try may not always be the one you can handle or that works for you.

But to answer your question it is possible to treat with underlying issues but it is imperative they be managed prior to treatment.

Many people treating there hep c take medications for there anxiety and depression. Of course it would be up to your Dr. And if he feels its safe for your liver.  Good luck to you!!

Thank you for that.  I am in a remoter area in BC Canada and I sometimes wonder if the Docs here are kept up to date with treatment etc.  Did this treatment cause any Depression as this has been the hold up so far as I suffer from chronic anxiety.  I acquired this through a tainted blood transfusion after an emergeny caesarian with my daughter many years ago . 1981 actually, so many years working away on the old liver.  Happy to hear they are treating those of us that have developed this and clearing .. WOW .. impressed.  You have opened a window for me tonight, thank you . :)
