Correction to my above post:
"Your doctor has suggested the regimen for Interferon Ineligible patients, but that treatment is an alternative treatment, not the recommended treatment for Genotype 3. I would copy the informatin in the link I will provide and show it to your doctor. Or get another more up to date doctor."
That should read:
"Your doctor has suggested the regimen for Interferon 'eligible' patients, but that treatment is an alternative treatment, not the recommended treatment for Genotype 3. I would copy the informatin in the link I will provide and show it to your doctor. Or get another more up to date doctor."
I am 3A too. Two week after treatment I relapsed. Beginning to think 3A is tough to cure as this is my 3rd try.
I am sorry that treatment did not work for you. However, there are new treatments with higher SVR rates.
"technically what am i no hep c at end of treatment but 3 month later positive is it a relapser ?"
-----------------------
You are considered a Relapser
The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases recommends the following treatment for Genotype 3 Relapsers:
Daily sofosbuvir (400 mg) and weight-based RBV (1000 mg [<75 kg] to 1200 mg [≥75 kg]) for 24 weeks is recommended for treatment-naive patients with HCV genotype 3 infection (This is also the recommendation for Genotype Relapsers.)
Your doctor has suggested the regimen for Interferon Ineligible patients, but that treatment is an alternative treatment, not the recommended treatment for Genotype 3. I would copy the informatin in the link I will provide and show it to your doctor. Or get another more up to date doctor.
The following link lists all recommendations. You have to scroll down about half way to find the Genotype 3 data. Then there is more a little further down in which it states that Genotype 3 Relapsers should be treated the same as treatment naive.

Hope this helps.
PS: Olysio is not used in Genotype 3.

What week of tx did you first go Und?
Hi Robert and welcome to the forum.
The best way to get your question noticed is to go to the top right side of the page and click the orange button "Post a Question" and post as a new question. That way more people will notice your question and respond.
High or low doesn't really mean much as far as extent of liver damage or difficulty in succesfully treating hep C. It is only really useful for comparsion when being treated. Factors most important in treatment is prior treatment status, amount of liver damage (cirrhosis vs. no cirrhosis) and Genotype i.e. 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b ect (GT 1a is the most common in the U.S.) this will be how your doctor will know what is the best treatment for you as far as what medications and duration of treatment. Hopefully you are seeing a hepatologist or at least a gastroenterologist experienced in working with hepatitis c patients.
Important things for you to know, your Genotype, liver function test results, best guess if you have one how long you have had hep c, platelet count, and liver biopsy results which is the gold standard for amount of liver damage. But these are best discussed with your doctor.
Hope that help some. Good luck and ask away we are here to help if we can.

my viral load is 3.04e+6 iu/ml is this high or low I.m new to all this hep c stuff
oops the 39% was what you were treated with before. The new treatment says 60% chance so yeah even better
yes I believe that is called a relapse.
But right now you have at least a 39% chance so hold onto that and cross the next bridge when and if it comes.
Timeframe for next treatment would depend if you have any other option to treat with for GT 3. Could possible have to wait for the next treament coming down the line. That would be between your treating physicial and you. I have not heard of any special wait time post treatment for treatment failures.
Good luck
Lynn
As the others have said..., you should look into/ask your doctor about.., one of the Sovaldi treatments. There are 3 choices with that depending on your doctor: 24 wk of Sovaldi + Riba :
12 wk of Sovaldi + Olyssio
12 wk of Sovaldi and SOC
I actually am not sure if it's 12 wk or 24 wks on the Sovaldi/Olyssio..., since I'm not on that particular combo.
I am on Sovaldi + SOC x 12 wk

technically what am i no hep c at end of treatment but 3 month later positive is it a relapser ? and do i have to wait 6 month till i can get any other treatment ?
thanks geo
I found an article about treating patients with cirrhosis with peg interferon and ribavirin that says:
"SVR was achieved for 35% (6/17) of patients with genotype 1, and for 39% (16/41) with genotype 3"
http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/537740
So it looks like you have a 2 times greater chance of success with Sovladi Ribavirin than the treatment you were just on.
As far as relapsing again, yes that is possible but right now this is the best medicine available for you from what I have been reading and it seems your doctor feels so as well.
But think positive you have a 60 % chance of beating this thing vs. the 39% chance with the meds you just tried. So hit back while the little buggers are still reeling and give them the knock out punch!
Good Luck Celtic Tiger Warrior!

thanks for your reply lynn i appreciate it i also see its only a 60% chance of bein cured im sure the treatment i was on was a lot more % so does that mean it will come back again
thanks geo
I am guessing Sovaldi plus Ribivirin for 24 weeks

see Table 17 SVR Rates for Selected Subgroup by Genotype in Study VALENCE page 27
Good luck

sorry ribavarin and interferon lol
