I was diagnosed 7yrs ago.I was a stage one chirosis.I'm now having lots of syptoms..not sure if they are related..pain under breast bone..I thought it was my heart...ekg neg...food coming through nose...at times trouble swallowing... pain in burn in muscle....any body experience theeseor have info

Yeah. The mouth blisters are a mess. I'm glad to see that you are heading to Stanford. It is scary, but like you've read, those of us with Stage 4 are beating the virus with the help of a good medical team.

OK thank you for the info.I only know that my head waa stuck in the sand and you really have to be active to get treatment.....I'm happy for your victory ...godbless
There are four stages of fibrosis and stage 4 is cirrhosis. Once you get to the cirrhosis stage the main categories are compensated and decompensated. I have compensated cirrhosis, diagnosed in 2004. Yes, it was the triple tx with Incivek that cured me. It's no fun at all, but it beats the hell out of dying of liver failure. I'm really glad you are going to be seen at Stanford.
Iam going to Stanford....Iam scared I found two blood blister like things in my mouth......any ideas????
You've gotten good advice. Yes your condition can change rather quickly...but a lot of the ailments that happen along the way are treatable.

Yes now I'm going to see if I can get my biopsy done there..what stage chirosis were you???and was triple therapy what worked for you????
I've been seen for many years at the Stanford University Hospital Liver Clinic. They provide very good care and I do hope you will get in there very soon. They do provide financial assistance to many who can't afford care, although I can't provide any details about that because I'm fortunate enough to have excellent insurance. I have had a lot of procedures and surgeries there and was happy with my care in all cases but one, and that was due to a last-minute change of doctors for an ercp (a type of endoscopy). I've seen Dr. Gabriel Garcia for about 25 years now, but have heard good things about their other hepatologists too. I also have had cirrhosis for about 9 years now, and I recently completed my third attempt at getting rid of the hep c virus and it finally worked. I'm SVR as of last March, and am feeling better all the time. I hope you will soon be treated and freed from the virus as well. Good luck!
Yes my GI told me that treatment could send me into liver failure. if a high 3 or 4'*..I have received papers from Stanford for assistance...my viral load is very high..I'm in the millions....was treatment sucsessful for you???
Thank you for welcoming me...and the prayers!!!I didn't do my liver much good drinking for three years after I found out...I have been in recovery for four years.. I was feeling like a hypochondriac at the er..the doctor pretty much told me it was in my head...my white cells are high red low... high cholesterol and blood sugar which are all new to me...what kind if unrelated symptoms did you have
I am uninsured..I have been going to community medical.they do routine CBC.but brush off all my syptoms...after months of trying to get help I have been referred to a GI....cash pay..they have arranged for a biopsy .also I was told by the GI that treatment was necessary... however if at stage high three or four chirosis I would have to go to Stanford...Iam geno type 1..thank you for welcoming me
Please, please, please, see a doctor!!! I had so many unrelated symptoms and was misdiagnosed for so many years. This forum helped me so very much. You know if you have cirrhosis you aren't doing your liver any good by not seeing a doctor. Please go, hopefully you will get the right answers. I was blessed with 2 great doctors. Hope you get as lucky. Sayin prayers for ya.
If you are concerned about the condition of your liver - you need to see a doctor. If you are having trouble swallowing you really need to see a doctor.

you need to see a doctor. People on this forum aren't doctors. There is treatment and financial assistance for treating Hepatitis C. People are being cured everyday - but you need to go to the doctor and be evaluated.

I hope you are following up with a doctor. Cirrhosis can progress pretty quickly. The trouble swallowing may be varices. I had them in my esophagus and didn't know it. It can all be taken care of with medication and treatment. Do not put it off.

Heck I want to go to Standford too :). You can be treated and you don't have to go to Standford. Standford would be nice if you are treated there. Have you applied to get assistance with the medical expenses. If you can't afford payment...the fastest way is to go to a University Hospital and apply for financial medical assistance. So maybe you should find out where at Standford University you can apply for financial medical assistance and go see the G.I. there. If you can't find it....personal message me.
