I am the quilty of the crime...i did say alcohol was as bad as tap water...i just wanted to get my point across that tap water is toxic....of course alcohol is way more toxic...but i did get you attention....i am totally agaisr straight tap water....if you do only one thing for you poor ole liver....drink clean pure filtered water...or distilled...i dont know why anyone would trust the water supply theses days....its just common sense
also if your drinking out of a well that is getting low.Chemical run off, etc.
I would also contact your water supply source and see if it's been tested.

it can be bad if you live near a coal strip mining facility, or a superfund site, or where factory effluant is poured directly into the water shed, but in general no it is not.
A lot depends on where in the world you live and how strict their water standards are.
If you use well water it can be very good, or very bad for you. Chiefly well water can be problematic for liver patients due to in some locals its having a high iron content.
The only way to know for sure (assuming the water isn't red) is to get it tested. Most state agricultural services will test well water for a minimal fee and if you have a bd liver you need to test your well water.
But if someone is just making a broad generalized statement that water is as bad as booze..... they are pulling your chain. In general water is the most healthy thing you can drink.

interesting thought but i have never seen that posted here.
tap water is just as bad as alcohol only when used in home distillery to make moonshine :-)
My city get our water from Lake Erie, goes through a filtration plant, to the water supply lines, to my house, then to my faucet and last but not least, through my PUR 3 stage faucet mount water filter. Tastes good too. Yum yum
Most tap water is OK. If you have specific concerns, it's easy to get it tested. Your municipal water supplier should have a yearly report available for you with exactly what is in your water. Carbon filters, of the type found in 'pitcher' systems are cheap and easy to come by. Reverse osmosis systems require more maintenance, but can remove things like magnesium sulfate and fluoride compounds if your water has high levels of these. About the worst thing you can use is a counter top distillation unit. These can remove beneficial minerals while retaining and even concentrating more volatile substances such as benzene, and petrochemicals.
I don't think anyone has ever mentioned that it was especially bad for the liver. A few of us here are nutty health freaks and are very aware of not drinking unfiltered water. Everything you consume, breathe and put on your skin has to be somehow processed by your body and the liver is a part of it.
I personally try to eliminate as many toxins from my life as possible, but this is not a must. I would never compare it to alcohol either.
My doc told me to drink bottled water but I live i a big city. Seriously though even with the minerals etc. in tap water.....people have been drinking it for centuries and doing just fine. I wouldn't worry about that and don't think anybody could compare it to alcohol in any way in the world.
Did you really read something here recently that it is true that tap water is as bad for your liver as alcohol? I missed that. To me, that seems ludicrous or facetious!
Perhaps someone got carried away or else will cite his sources.
A small minority of people are alarmist by nature. Caveat emptor.
