i am not yet on therapy, yet.  the following links will take you to the briefing documents for telaprivir and boceprivir.  these documents describe all the gory details that the drug companies choose to share with the fda. don't know which side effect i am looking forward to the most. maybe the anal-rectal pain like your bung hole is constantly on fire or the rash from hell. can't decide.

Congratulations! You'll find a lot of support and great tips on this site. The anticipation was almost worse than the 1st shot. I'm Gen 1a also. I'm heading toward my 3rd injection and managing much better than I thought. Some SE are a pain and a hassle. Low grade fever n aches, hair loss, yeah and getting creative w/ all the fat intake. lol. I'm having to make myself rest most days. Others I drink green tea w/ ginger for nrg and nausea.
Go for it!

opps, i keep forgetting stuff.  the most import part of the visit is the informed consent.  it consist of a description of the trial and side effects.  you will be asked if you have any questions, and then be asked to sign.

all - thanks for sharing your experiences.

hrsepwrguy -  the first visit is probably a screening visit.  it will likely consist of blood work, physical, psychological questioner, ekg.

I started triple therapy 2 weeks ago, the first shot was the worst flu like systoms, chills, cild sweats, tired, feels like you have a fever but you dont.
The incevik and riba pills just make you tired, the hardest part is eating the 20 grams of fat at 6,2 and 10 oclock. I started mixing a protein shake with whole milk and a tablespoon of peanut butter, i figure thats about 28 grams of good fat and much easier then tring to eat a meal. Everyones sides are different, the first shot was definetly the worst the second was much easier. the second shot i took two aleve about two hours after and didnt feel as bad.
Good luck Joe

The anal stuff in my opinion is caused by the incivek and the food you eat. So if you have a problem think of what may be causing it and stop eating that food. also you may want to add yogurt to your diet.

I'll be going into my 4th week soon of triple therapy withi incivek. Light sides , tired a bit and achy occasionally. It's not bad at all so far. Don't worry, just do it. About insurance, that was a big worry for me too. Vertex was wonderful in getting the drug in my pharmacy and I was approved without a problem. I wish the same for you.

Doctor should assign an advocate to help you get drug approval, it wasn't something I could do on my own. Make sure you have a doctor who is experienced in treating hep c.

Good luck

Keith, I also will be starting on the triple trip soon, likely in mid September, hopefully. No insurance, but the ID folks say they can get all 3 free for me, I'll have to pay visits and testing, etc. I'm not lookimg forward to it, but I think I've waited enough, time to take the plunge. I still wonder how my system will handle it, mainly because I have no spleen which causes my WBC and platelets to always be off the charts. Also have waited due to lesions on kidney and liver, last CT said they had not changed much, but, "appearance remains indeterminate", another CT or MRI in 6 months. I hope all goes well for you, when do you start? Keep us posted, and welcome.

I am very lucky and live close to Denver Co where they have a clinical trial that is the triple drug therapy, that is studying effects of a wieght based ribovirin dose compared to a standard mg dose

Thanks for the welcome and the info. The side effects sound nasty but I am already at late stage three bridging fibrosis so here we go. I am glad I found this forum.
Thanks

Welcome to the board.  I haven't tried the triple cocktail, but several people on here have.  There are several threads dedicated to side effects,

Take care,
