update on PSI/BMS all-oral study

Hi all - just wanted to post a quick update (since I've been "gently" prompted to do so :P) that as of my Day 28 visit, I am officially virus free. :) I was lingering at <25 after week 2, and getting a little nervous that it wasn't going to happen, and then received officially word yesterday that I'm undetected and my liver enzymes are completely back to normal.
Still faced with another 20 weeks of treatment, but my early side effects of headache and fatigue are completely gone, and I'm back to my pre-treatment exercise regimen without any issues.

Finding out about this study and getting the chance to be involved, especially with my mom (who is also undetected!!), feels like such a undeserved blessing that I still can't wrap my head around. But I'm so unbelievably excited for what this all means in the short term for me and my family, and in the long term for everyone with HCV worldwide. A treatment protocol that approaches 100% RVR, without interferon/ribavirin and without side effects. Mindblowing.

Now starts the waiting game, keeping up with meds and starting this next virus-free chapter of my life. I've had this since I was a child, so it's hard to imagine what that's going to be life. So bizarre.

Thank you all for your wonderful ongoing support. It means so much.

Thank you everyone for the kind words! And thanks curiouslady for responding to penn1023 with answers to his questions. :)

I'm going to try to dial in to Pharmasset's investor presentation at the UBS Global Heathcare Conference today -- really curious as to how detailed they're going to get in terms of overall results so far. The link in case anyone is interested: http://********.**********.com/events.cfm

So happy for you, Attagrl. Especially after learning that you had had the virus since you were a child. Something beautiful is happening here! Just keep on keepin' on with this new life of yours and your mom's. This is very poignant.

It just so happened that the four of us were randomized to non Riba arms.  I was told not to change a thing from regular life except they didn't want me to take a Proton Inhibitor and I couldn't take Zantac for 10 hours before or two hours afterward.  We do take the drugs with food so I guess the drugs need the stomach acid for absorption.  But no, you don't have to eat fat.  The only side we seemed to have shared was some minor fatigue for periods of time during the day but dissipating after 3 weeks to a month.  The others can correct me if I am wrong.  Some of us had some flatulence.

Everyone just on PSI and BMS, no RBV? How much of each drug and how often. Were there no sides at all? Did you have to eat fat like telprevir to get the pills down?

Enjoy!!, anyone who goes thru tx deserves to get UND and then SVR.  That's the way I sees it.  Glad to hear your needle-less tx is going well for both of you.  good luck with the rest, to both of you!!

Wonderful attagrl.  Great to hear from you and welcome to the PSI/BMS EVR club!!! That makes all four of us at this web site.  A friend from another  web site who just started on Tuesday will be really happy to hear such news.  I will try to find out what is happening with the two men I know at our research site who were also in your arm.
