The quantitative HCV RNA tests measure the amount of hepatitis C virus in the blood. Also, called viral load.
All my best,

HEPATITIS C QUANT 6,466 what does that mean?
The quantitative HCV RNA tests measure the amount of hepatitis C virus in the blood.

The Viral Load or viral count is 2,924,650.
The 6,466 number is the number in log form. (Are you sure it is not 6.466?)
See this chart for the equivalents:
http://www.hepatitiscentral.com/hcv/hepatitis/loadchart.html
Viral Load 2,750,000 Log equivalent 6.439
Viral Load 3,000,000 Log equivalent 6.477
Hope that helps.
It is 6.466 what does that mean?
6.466 is just another way to say the viral load is 2,924,650.
The test results are just reported both ways, numerical and logarithm, but they mean the same thing.
It is easier and less confusing to just ignore the logarithm value and go by the numerical value.
So, bottom line, his viral load is 2,924,650.
Hello,
This also means that your viral load is not very high and is in medium range.
Thanks for the help correct me if I'm wrong but it may mean that treatment might work better with viral load?
Medium VL increases your chances of achieving SVR, but again there are number of factors which increase/decrease those chances.
Medium VL increases your chances of achieving SVR,

This has not been shown by research or in clinical practice since the intro.of the protease drugs(Inci & Vic),.
There seems to be no corelation.
When the therapy was just INF/Riba ..yes studies showed this to be the case.

unless you are on treatment, I wouldn't be so worried about viral load. iam 69 and my reading that I get has always been 6 mil. and up. contacted hep-c 40-50 years ago. life style is what's going to put you 6 feet under. good luck and god bless.
My husband has had Hep C geno 1a since 2002 and we had a bio done and it was grade 1 stage 1 did combo didnt cure. He has not seen a doctor for it since then until I just recently had him do his viral load and his Alt and Ast which were normal ranges. I am really worried about if he has cirrhosis but it doesnt want to go to the specialist til after the first of the year. If you dont mind me asking what symptoms do you have and how far has yours progressed if any?
