vitamin b???

I had a doc's appt. yesterday and he mentioned taking more blood work cause of low vitamin b, low red blood cell count and one other thing that I forget. Has anyone encountered this and if yes, what did your doc do about it. I do know that I am so fatigued that I can't get much done. Anybody have any ideas???

they test for folate(folic acid) and B12 in addition to the red count tests to determine if other types of anemias are present. We usually get hemolytic anemia, but can get deficiencies in the b vitamins mentioned that might add to the low hgb problem.
Whole grains, brewer's yeast, wheat germ are a good source of b vits.  Procrit is used for the hemolytic anemia. Fatigue is one big issue with this condition.
hope you do well

I have the b12 deficiency since starting treatment. They gave me 1 b12 shot a week for 6 weeks, now 1 a month.

one of my doctors put me on folic acid but i think just as a precaution. anemia can be caused by several things and low folic acid and b12 are some reasons...

if we are on hep c treatment the cause of anemia is the treatment for most of us...but perhaps some drs give these to boost red blood cell production too...i'm not sure though...
