I'm not saying that people don't suffer post-treatment from interferon hangover or other effects of treatment. But the 'usual' profile for people who post here are people who may be older;  40's, 50's or 60's.  In those years bodies seem to show the effects of life, apart from HCV.  I'm assuming that you achieved SVR. If you have not done so already, may be have a top to bottom assessment of your body and your health in its entirety.  There could be other reasons for health impairment.  I don't understand the part about "tough on those close to me"

My endocrinologist said it can take up to two years to recover from the treatment.

Also, from reading posts here for many years, I have seen that some people discover that their problems existed before treatment, and treatment didn't get rid of them or result in them.

Which isn't to say that some people don't have long term effects from the tx because some people do. What are your symptoms and have you been to doctors to get help?

I finished my tx in  August. It has been about 3 weeks post tx. I am surprised the way I feel now - it is actually somewhat worse than during tx. Talked to my doc, she said it happens sometimes and that for some patients it takes a long-long time to get rid of sx, longer than a year... I just hope it's going to get better sooner. She did advise me to schedule an appointment with my regular family doctor though.

Can you let us know what you mean specifically - maybe there is a way to help.  It took me a good year and a half or two years to feel 'right' although I am sure I will never be 100% again I am also 5/6 years older and do realize that the meds were extremely harsh and will probably leave some residual problems for the rest of my life but at least it is a life I will have.

I'm still doing tx so I can't say how things will be when I get done, but I can say from reading this forum since February that there are some people who suffer with sx for a long time because they are just waiting for them to go away, and others who go to doctors who specialize in the area that they are suffering, and they get help. Once you are done with tx, your hep doctor isn't the one to help you with the sides.

Im sorry to hear that you are still having trouble.  I stopped tx 8 months ago and was a non-responder.  And people dont understand why I still have trouble.  At least here, you will find ppl that understand what you are going through.  I wish I had an answer for you.  I guess it depends on what kind of side effects you are having.  But after what I went through with tx, I totally understand why you might still be having some trouble.  Tx is really hard on your body.  I hope you get your answers.  Regardless, you can talk to us about it if you just need to talk to someone who "gets it".  I dont check my messages on here very often but if you want to talk to me, I would be glad to listen.  I know its hard on others too.  I told my husband, "if you are tired of it, just think of how I must feel".  Hes been really great through this though and I dont have anything to complain about.  I did get a little demotion at work though, simply because I couldnt be there enough and was so tired while I was there.  So I understand how it can mess with your life. Again, I hope you get your answers.
