Gilead Trial week 46 of 48. Almost there!

I'm entering my last 14 days of treatment.  Just wanted to say hello.  Things have been great after as slow start.  I started Gilead all oral trial which failed after week 8.  Since, I've joined their rescue arm adding PEG injections.  Been UND since week 4 of the rescue (12 overall).  Now I'm on week 46 of the rescue (week 54 of 56 overall).  Happy to report no real side effects at all.  My closest friends would have had no idea I was on treatment if I hadn't told them.  I was tired here and there, had very minor redness at my injection sites, and a sensitivity to light on injection days.  Overall my side effects were less then 1 on a 10 scale.  I worked out, played golf, went out, etc.  I was almost 100% compliant on meds - I missed one Riba dose one night for no reason.  Pretty good for over 390 days on treatment. :)  I'm nervous and excited to get off the meds.  I've been UND now for 10 straight months.  Chemistry numbers look good.  Never needed any rescue drugs.  So stick with it and we will all get through this.  Good luck to everyone!

congrats! I did 24 weeks of SOC plus 9451 and 5885. I was UND at 4 weeks and still UND 12 weeks after EOT. It worked for me, looks like it's gonna work for you, too!

Yes.  Once we added PEG in week 8, we only eliminated 9190 which was a polymerase (I think.  Been a while).  I stayed with Riba, 5885 and 9451 (NS5A inhibitor and PI) for 24 weeks of rescue.  The last 24 weeks of rescue are PG and Riba only.  Hard to say on the all-orals.  I do know that a lot of people are getting to SVR with them.  Just not the 80% plus that we all want and expect.

congratulations.  I did 56 weeks my first treatment so even though you say you are fine, I bet you are pretty worn out. When you failed the Gilead orals, and started with the interferon and ribavirn, did you continue any of the Gilead orals? I am hopeful that the orals will be a wave of the future.  Congrats on your UND with 4 weeks of INF.  My doctor does not think we will be able to get rid of interferon any time soon.
