I am doing okay. A few last minute cancer issues. (It's always something).
I am currently #5 on the liver transplant waiting list for blood type Os here. So I am doing a lot of last minute prep work here at home where my sister will stay with me while I will recover and last minute hospital preparations.
Once I get "the call" anytime between now and a few weeks, I will disappear for a while depending on how well my surgery and post transplant complications go. So right now it is hour to hour, day to day. Everything else in my life is on hold.
Looking forward to a new liver in the new year!
Thanks for asking!
Cheers!
hector
good luck Hector...you are in my prayers.
We'll be here waiting and cheering you on, Hector!! Maybe your sister would be willing to keep us updated?!?
Hugs,
Janette
Sending our prayers in advance for a successful transplant and recovery for you Hector. I hope the next few weeks go smoothly while you're waiting. It would be great if your sister would post and let us know when you're out of surgery, or she could email or text one of us and we could post here if you like. We will all be thinking of you.
New liver, new year, new life.
Interesting how closely related the words "liver" and "life" seem. :)

Without the support of all the good MedHelp people that I have met over the years, it would have been a much tougher journey to navigate. I thought I was a goner a few times there.
I am very grateful to each and everyone of you that have written to me and supported me with my hep C treatments, cirrhosis, decompensation, liver cancer, and now End-Stage Liver Disease (ESLD) and now finally after many years of waiting...my transplant.
Oh, by the way...my hepatologist told me she is 99% sure I won't have recurrence of the hepatitis C virus in my donor liver thanks to me being 1 of 50 world-wide who are interferon resistant in a GS-7977 + ribavirin trial for cirrhotics with HCC. How lucky am I?
I am looking forward to a second life without HCV!

It is very exciting to be so close to the point you have worked so hard for. You have done everything right. You have edified yourself and through your generousity of spirit educated us as well. You have left no stone unturned in this epic act to do the best you can with what you have. You have dared to walk beds of coals to live. There is no higher pursuit. I am in awe of your strength and determination. If anyone ever blamed you for being 'stubborn', they had no idea that your will is steel. I just could not be prouder to know you Hector and look forward to the book you are going to write and make zillions of people the better for it, just like you have made all of us better who have been blessed to bear witness to your struggle and your kind and loving counsel. We will be praying for peace of heart and your proper recovery. It will all be over before you know it and you will be back home in your Sisters fine care. (I have a really dirty joke I'll save for you . . . = : ) , your constant admirer
Yes, here's a toast (sparkling apple cider) *clink: for a smooth liver transplant, and a speedy recovery for you Hector.
That will be comforting, to have your Sis with you, while you recover <3....does the keyboard have a symbol that resembles a liver?
I have so much respect for you and what you have been through. You are "big daddy" for many of us on the forum...wish you good luck and a hep c free new year!
