How did everybody get it?

eveybody get HCV?
Am I the only one who got it the
wrong way?(recreational drug use)

The only dangerous thing I did in my youth was snort coke two or three times.  No IVDU, no transfusions - BUT lots of dental work, surgery, manicures, ears pierced, etc.

However, I have a hunch it came from shared sharp instruments on the job (I used to edit films and used gizmos called splicers, which everybody shared).  It's interesting, but since we'll never really know the source, it doesn't matter.

I got it playing tag........... But really IVDU was how i contracted it. It really doesn't matter how you got it. What matters is a cure for all.......Don't blame yourself for doing something wrong or feel bad.  Just learn from your mistakes and help others.  Live life and be happy.

Marcia, thanks for the reference to the fishbone theory. I missed the original debut, but got a lot of laughs reading it just now!  No more herringbone jackets for me.

I know, my risky behavior would indicate that I contracted the virus 30 - 40 yrs ago, blood was tested 5 yrs ago for a life insurance policy, no red flags, 4 yrs later, ALT 45, hep c antibodies and yup active virus (buggers) stage 1 grade 1 so yo no se.

Last night I had a vision of these tiny red dots, and this bright yellow light swallowing them up...... would be nice.... just trying to keep them at bay until better treatment.  Anything is possible right?

I also disagree with you...I got it from surgery 13 yrs. ago.Pretty sure anyway's.My Surgeon couldn't leave the State fast enough after he was fired.How do you get fired as a Dr? Proof you are spreading it.I never shot up, tattoos, anything.How do we know we didn't get it at the dentist ? Someone didn't clean the tools in the autoclave thingy.I can see that, also.

...I disagree...I'm sure some her have gotten it that way but maybe a smaller percentage...I still don't know how I got it...I have no history of blood transfusion, IVDU, Tatoos...I have had my ears pierced several times tho...and I did experement with cocain when I was a teenager...but I never put the straw inside my nose...so maybe I'm in denial about that

Tooth fairy been down here to the Antipodes as well - more colonising - when will it end? I though it was the tooth fairy but maybe it was IVDU - I did that more times that I lost teeth.   What are the odds.   I did try the dentist in Gaza theory with my mother for a while, then told her the IVDU but went back and landed on the Gaza theory in the end.  She is 84 - how much does she need to think about?  Took me 3 months to explain the treatment (geriatric brain) to her let alone the cause and trajectory of the disease.  She is the only one I needed to lie to.  Mothers and guilt theories abound.

Writing this and laughing made my riba headache ease!

I love this site.  No one in my family gets it. Really.  I just want to be cured.

Reckless youth, thought I slipped through the cracks all these years, then I got a needle stick at work, went throught the OSHA thing, and there it showed up,
could have been many ways, I never did IV drugs, but I am a product of the hippie generation, and pushed my luck a little to much. Also got a needle stick in the early 80's when I worked for a dentist.
Had a tatoo in 71 at Sailor Jerry's in Hawaii, have no idea how they sterilized anything.  The tatoo cost me 8 dollars.  I just hope we get better meds to treat with.

I must have shot dope with the same tooth fairy lol that son of beach been all over the world infecting US! lol I was with a man for 3 years that was a heroin addict and I never caught it sexually from him ,the day I decided to try that euphoria I saw him in and he just took the needle out of his arm, pushed some water thru it and shot me up, from there on is the end of the story..........Now I am joining this family in the beginning of my journey of to treat or not to treat am I still able to treat, and am I going to die much younger then I ever imagined! These are the important questions in my opinion

You guys crack me up...funny, when I was first dx, my pcp was the one to ask me where I got it...IVDU, piercings, tatoos...I kept shaking my head....no....no....so, like to prompt a memory, she tells me this story of a guy who helped @ a car accident...told the doc he was covered in blood...I said, "Uh...no....I didn't do THAT".

No one else seems to care...fact is, it's here to stay for a while.
