Hector and I took the same terrible trip together before our transplant. We communicated about our pain status and other things regarding the terrible treatment side effects. He put me aware of Lactulose and other things I was not aware of. We have become good friends through the years. My transplant anniversary is in two weeks. Our stories parallel each other a lot.
I speak to him once a week and posted on how he's doing as of yesterday. He unselfishly took time to meet with transplant groups although he was ill and feeling the nasty side effects of treatment. I take my hat off to my friend. If everyone in this world was like Hector, there would be no more wars...

Thanks everyone!!!
While still dealing with my latest medical issues I am happy to report that my one year post transplant cancer surveillance for recurrent HCC (liver cancer) CT scans and AFP (blood tumor marker) showed no signs of my cancer returning which is really the best news I could have ever hoped for. Wow!
I only have a few days left of this hep C treatment (Sovaldi, Ribavirin and 6 weeks of Olysio) which will be another milestone.
I should have a pretty good idea if this treatment was successful sometime around Christmas time. I am hoping this 3rd try will have been the final time I need to try to rid myself of the virus. My new liver would be thankful too.
After stopping this treatment Thursday hopefully I will slowly start to feel better and get back the life I had earlier in the year as I was recovering from my transplant and all of the cancer treatments to get me to transplant that I had in 2013. If my symptoms don't disappear I will need more testing at my transplant center to determine what is causing my current symptoms of chronic pain and massive fatigue that has disabled me for many months now.
I hope everyone is well and doing well.
Hector
So good to read your update! Thanks for sharing the great news about your one year post transplant cancer surveillance results are good. Way to go Howie!!!
Regarding your intense chronic pain and fatigue you've endured these past several months, we are all so happy you are coming around. This is just my take on your situation. I really know nothing at all but have a feeling you are going to feel a lot better some time after you finish treatment. I was just trying to remember my six week tx with a three drug cocktail and it's all coming back to me. It's kind of like having a baby, the pain can be so unbearable at times that you naturally block it out, and its hard to remember soon after. Especially when the results are good. Sunru
Here, here!! Very well put, miracles at every turn.
Hooray!!! So good to see you posting on here again! That's great news about your cancer not returning.
I hope that your debilitating fatigue and pain will leave you soon. Maybe they are just side effects of your latest treatment that will resolve themselves?
Always here for you, as are so many others you have steered through the "bad" times.
I am thrilled to hear that there are no indications of Cancer one year post transplant. Fantastic news.
Although I was sad to hear of your renal stone and general pain issues, I am hoping that all of the pain and current medical issues that you are dealing with diminish when you finish treatment (which is soon - I bet you are counting the minutes).
Hoping for you that this will be the last time you need to treat for your Hepatitis C! Jo
Happy belated Liver Bday as well as congrats on the clear CT scan. Will send prayers and good thoughts that the treatment works as well.
Best,

Good evening Hector
You are so missed and hope that at Tx end, you will regain your strength and your life. Even tho we learn so much from your knowledgeable responses, its time for you to take care of you, and get back to feeling better.
We will all be here when you feel up to writing again, and only want to see you on the road to recovery.
Best wishes and a big Congragulations for putting the "Big C" in its place.
