That is interesting how TX effects individuals differently is in not?
I gave up the cancer sticks about 5 years even before it was discovered that I had HepC...
Oh and it was moved here by the moderators so I do not have control over the fact that it landed in the social section.
So the point is that you can join the class action suit if you or someone you know has taken the medicine and has suffered a heart attack from it. Nothing more and nothing less. I have left the info for that reason alone in case it would benefit someone.
Interesting. I had acid reflex for years. To Nexium for years and years.
After treating my hepatitis C….. I didn't have acid reflex any more. Also, smoking aggravates acid reflex.
I appreciate this post very much!
During treatment my stomach lining was destroyed and I was told that I would be on a PPI for the rest of my life. I have been on Omeprazole 20mg 2x/day since treatment and for nearly 10 years now.
INF/Riba put a hole in the lining of my stomach that will never heal (unless the liver specialist lied about that also). I have attempted to go off PPI and the acid reflux is so horrific (as I have a hole in the lining of my stomach from treatment) that the acid burn is unbearable - no home remedy works and I have tried EVERYTHING! even sleeping nearly half standing up.
As most of us PISers are in a great Catch 22. We dont trust doctors but need doctors to help us heal.
Thank you very much for this latest info. Not sure how I will carry on with it and my trusted doc - I am not in the category for a future heart attack but it is a concern.

Nausea???
That's a new one since it is for Acid reflux.
I guess. Call and check with them.
This has to do with many of us having been or are currently on opremazole (Prilosec) As you may know, those of us with cirrhosis often suffer from nausea and can't eat. Doctors prescribe this for nausea. I thought it was a given that everyone would know that. There have been discussions and concerns about this medicine in the recent past.
Sorry I posted it. Every time I post I get a lot of grief. This is on topic and of concern to many Heppers who take this medicine.

Not entirely sure what this has to do with HCV but I heard a story on NPR about this over the summer. It seemed the risk is for those who are already at risk rather than your Average Joe with no history of a cardiovascular event.

The increase in risk is about 16 to 20 percent, depending on the particular drug involved," Shah says.
Assuming that link holds up, and the risk is spread evenly throughout the population, someone with a low risk of heart attack doesn't have much to worry about. "If your risk of a cardiovascular event or a heart attack is one in a million, now it is 1.2 in a million," Shah says.
What about people staying outside the US? will they also be compensated ?
