preparation for biopsy

I have my biopsy coming up in a week. I wanted to ask, if you stopped taking blood thinning supplements like Vitamin E, fish oil and selenium, garlic pills, cayenne etc. before the biopsy.

I have read that one should stop these and certain meds like aspirin two weeks before SURGERY. (I am NOT taking any medication, so I am ONLY asking about supplements) So I am wondering how this would apply to a liver biopsy.

What is your experience with this?

Thanks sweetie. I have to go in for blood tests on the 29th and they said the biopsy would be the day after.

Honestly, I was so nervous beforehand...what a waste of energy!!  The bioposy itself only took about...well, it seemed like seconds, but surely less that  a minute.  Absolutey no pain, before during or after.  I did have to stay for about 4 hours afterwards.  But I had a river front room and just watched boats go by.

What day are you having it done?  You're in my daily thoughts and prayers, but I'll think/pray harder that day!!!!

Thanks everyone! You are great... I'm gonna be thinking of all this when I'm lying there waiting. Maybe I should print out the pics of mremeet's links and bring them. Then I can maybe request one of those awesome needles. The guillotine disposable does sound great, but it is manual.

You'll be fine, I knew you had to look at those links, there was no way of not taking a peek and mremeet knew that.  That was cruel, but funny.  Know that you're loved on here and don't try to look at that needle, it's a honker:)  On the serious side, take a book.  I didn't think either time to take a book, it sure would have came in handy.  The needle part just takes a cinch and then it's over, then you sleep wake up and go home.  The waiting part is the long part, but I've heard that you don't have to wait for 3 hrs. afterwards anymore.  You'll be fine.  God Bless

I took a nice long nap after my bx, with the strange medication they gave me.  I was not concerned about anything for a couple of hours.  M
