yes the WB is the next step.

I know I should take the WB test but my doctor is not being very accommodating. First of all she had no idea what the WB test was and she seemed kinda put off by the fact I was questioning the low positive score the first time. My results indicate that the test used was the herpeselect type-specific antibody. So here is my second question is the test I was given different from the Elisa test and Immunoblot test also done through Focus Diagnostics? I'm asking because I know where I can get both tests done where I live. If they are more accurate than I would rather do one of those tests just to save me the trouble of having to find another dr. who will draw up a work order for the WB test through Quest Diagnostics. Also I'm just curious if there is a link that ranks which tests are more accurate than others.
the elisa and the immunoblot are the same test pretty much. Having a low positive on one, doesn't make the other one confirmatory testing.
Your provider can order the herpes WB through quest - test #34534. Another option if the herpes inhibition assay through quest ( sorry, not at home and don't have that one memorized ).

also encourage your provider to contact the fine folks at focus who make the herpeselect. they are always willing to talk to providers and are very open about the false positive issues and need for confirmatory testing.
