How to know if HSV-1 is oral or genital?

I’ve been recently diagnosed with HSV-1 through IgG bloodwork. I have never had an outbreak so how do I tell where I would be “shedding” from? Sorry if sounds like an ignorant question but everything I’ve read talks about shedding happening around lesion site.

Statistically, if you've not had symptoms, hsv1 is oral. Up to 80% of the population has hsv1 orally (the older you are, the higher the %).

90% of those with oral hsv1 never get a cold sore, so chances are likely that yours is oral. That's what I'd assume if I were you.

I’ve read further and that seems to be mentioned quite often. Thank you for your response.
