Catching Oral Herpes from shaking hands?

This may sound really crazy but I’m worried.  Today I hung out with this guy for a few hours and I noticed that he had a big red scab above his mouth.  He claims it’s a zit or a pimple that he popped.  My brother was with me and pointed it out.  Later on he mentioned that he might have oral Herpes because he’s dating the biggest skank who has been passed around a thousand times.  When he first saw me he shook my hand, a few hours later he shook my hand again and gave me a hug when leaving.

Can you get oral Herpes from shaking hands and giving a hug?  It wasn’t oozing or anything but can it be caught by being in close proximity?  I’m sure I’m over thinking because I have bad OCD and I freak out over everything, but what are the chances?  I’ve been going insane since my brother said anything.  Thanks!
