Hi, hsv2 non genital is not common but surely possible. Having a positive swab would confirm that your hsv2 is non genital but the good part is that it dosenot shed very much at all, about 1% of the time. so your risk of spreading to someone else is only when a sore is there.
I AGREE I DO NOT BELIVE IT IS RARE EITHER I HAVE HAD THIS SINCE I WAS A SMALL CHILD AND WAS ALWAYS TOLD IT WAS A RINGWORM AND AL THO IT DOES LOOK SOME WHAT LIKE A RINGWORM IT HAS NEVER BEEN TESTED UNTILL NOW AND THE ONLY REASON IT IS TESTED IS BECAUSE I RECIEVED A POSITIVE IGG RESULT MY VIRAL CULTURE CAME BACK POSITIVE TO WHICH I WAS VERY RELIEVED
Non-genital outbreaks of HSV2 are more common than physicians realize. They keep calling it "rare" because they keep dismissing such symptoms as some "unknown cause" or misdiagnosing it. I also am convinced I have HSV2 outbreaks in some unusual places on my body. But my doctor claims he's never seen such a case in 30 years, so it can't be HSV2. Given the circumstances around these outbreaks (long story), I am 100% sure it is HSV2 and will have to wait until I get a significant enough outbreak to take another swab.
