Western blot at 16 17.5 wks after exposure of concern

I did the western blot at about 17 wks post exposure and according to Terri Warren 12 wks is the recommendation. I understand it's 99% accurate but isn't it up to the person to seroconvert. I also did an igG at the same time and both western blot and igG came back negative. Has anyone ever got a negative wb and later test positive on igg. I have a long standing hsv1 infection and if it slows seroconversion by a few wks I'm wondering if I'm doing these tests too soon. With a healthy immune system I would think afyer 17 wks id atleast get a low positive or equivocal result. Can i trust these tests? I just am nervous about the results being done too soon and not yet seroconverting. I've read people showing low positives at a later date. Like 8 months later and kind of bringing all the anxiety back.

You're referring to HSV-2 correct?

Yes I am, just keep reading on how it slows seroconversion by a few weeks and some people end up getting low positives at a much later date. Not sure what to believe. I plan on doing another igG at 20 wks post last exposure.
Where do you keep reading this?

And seriously, if Terri Warren said 12 weeks, believe her. The majority of people have hsv1 (the rates get higher as you get older.) If it delayed it, it would be reflected in the testing time frames already.

The WB is the gold standard. If Terri Warren says you are negative, and it's conclusive, you can trust that.
auntiejessi, you've responded to one of my questions not too long ago. Not sure if you're able to locate my question. I've also paid to ask the question in the new forum and was replied by Terri Warren. Anyway, about a month ago I kept checking myself for sores down there since I was experiencing chafing sensations along with tingling/burning behind my legs and on the buttocks, i noticed what looked like tiny sores/blisters on my penis head and I was touching them to try to get a better look. I forgot to wash my hands and several minutes later I ended up touching/rubbing my eyes. This was a month ago and ever since my eyelids and area around my eyes has been very irritated and feels like burning and like the skin is tight. No noticeable sores but it just doesn't feel right. Went to the dermatologist and optometrist and they said it's not herpes. However, can it be that it just hasn't presented itself in the typical case?? Something is wrong and I do feel it's herpes because it started within a couple of days of the incident i mentioned. I have Valtrex but have refused to take it so far because i want to wait long enough to take another IGG test to see if I ended up getting HSV-2 since I already have HSV-1.
Hi -

This is your old post. I'm going to copy and paste this question on to that thread so all of your info is there, and we aren't hijacking this thread.

I do trust it and I'd feel very confident about it. It's just I have slight irritated feeling on the median raphe under penile shaft closure to the scrotum. This has been going on for 3 months. The actual line is inflamed in that area. It caused a burning sensation but that's went away and now is just irritated. I can feel a small bump there as well. Not sure what it is everyone I've seen tells me it looks normal. I've used nair at the area and a month later it came about. The partner of concern is hsv2 positive is why I have this doubt I haven't built detectable antibodies especially having hsv1 long term infection. I also had a bump that appeared not long after exposure and the dermatologist said was mallescum but it didn't look like it to me. It came about as a zit and then formed as a pimple. No puss or clear fluid. I had her freeze it and it left a mark of it. It was like that for 2 months before I had her freeze it. I waited to see if it ulcers or goes away on it's own but it didn't. I'm most worried about thus irritation I'm describing. I'm engaged and made a horrible decision. If I infect this innocent girl I won't be able to live with the fact. I read diff stories of people with symptoms on forums that lives with these symptoms. If it's irritation how long can it last because it's been persistent really this whole time. 16 wks i kno hsv2 doesn't last this long.
My hopeful theory is hair growing back under the doing along the raphe idk.. hsv2 comes in so many forms idk what to think. I trust tw as she's the profenial and if she suggests 12 wks for the wb. I did mine at 16 wks. I'm healthy so I'd think I'd have detectable antibodies by now. I plan on another igG Tuesday witch will put me at 18 19 wks post. If negative I'll put hsv2 out my head and drill my Dr for answers.

Terri Warren said 12 weeks. Believe her. Believe science.

Stop reading crap on the internet. Anyone can say anything, and it's giving you fits. Trust your results.
