Symptoms

Hi guys

I had sex with a new partner 9 days ago. I gave her oral sex for about 20 minutes then we had protected vaginal sex

Two days ago I noticed a small red mark about half an inch from the base of my penis. It basically looks like one of the pubic follicles in terms of size, shape etc.  There is no pain and it hasn't developed into a sore or anything since I noticed it.

I thought nothing of it until last night when I came down with a bit of a fever and breathing heavily hurt a little bit. But my 2yo son has a fever and I completed a 10k the day before (and I'm not very fit)

Are these symptoms plausibly explained by herpes or something else

Thanks

Ok thank you. That makes sense.

For what it's worth - I'm pretty sure that the red spot /bump is not herpes. Still no pain. Still no sores (2.5 days since first noticing). Also it seems to fade in the morning and appear more pronounced at night.

Yes good question, lesions would appear at the same time as the 'flu' symptoms. These symptoms mainly pertain to your immune system kicking in. They would also be more genitally focused.

Also, by way of follow up if I may...

How common is it for a fever to develop before lesions appear?

I'm trying to understand the position I am in if the red spot is not herpes

Thanks

Thanks very much

If the red spot / bump does not develop into a sore is it worth getting tested?

The sore does not sound like herpes at all. Remember that 99% of the time, a flu is just a flu!
