Hi, about 5 weeks ago i received unprotected oral from a sex trade worker (I know terrible mistake I was incredibly drunk at the time) and within the next couple of days I was stressing out about catching something. I went to an STI clinic and had a urine test done that came back negative for gonorrhea and chlamydia, however the nurse told me it was too soon to test for HIV and HSV and that i had to wait. In a state of panic I went to ER as well a week later because I thought i was feeling fatigued and feverish and they did a urine analysis, which came out negative as well as a swab of my urethral opening which is red and seems a little swollen (they never swabbed the inside of my urethra). The STI nurse prescribed me doxycyline which i took and finished, and treated me for NGU as well in case i had it. It is now 5 weeks after the incident and until now i still haven't had any sores or wart show up on my penis, but my urethral opening seems red and a bit swollen... when i have an erection the opening seems more swollen and masterbating seems to irritate it more so and afterwards i feel a slight sting in my urethra. I know something is off, being a guy who used to masterbate regularly I've seen my penis enough times to know something is different. The doctors I've seen assure me I don't have herpes, due to no sores, but i can't help but worry since the other stuff came negative, I was negative for a UTI as well. Is it possible that I have herpes and that it's confined to my urethra? It doesnt really hurt to pee and i have no discharge, also if it was an outbreak without sores could it last this long? I hardly masterbate now to avoid irritation, but this is really bugging me. There's days where i have no worry at all and then certain days I'm stressing out reading everything possible on the internet (unfortunately the internet has no pictures of mild symptoms). Any advice is greatly appreciated thank you for your time.
HSV1 is the key risk. If you get oral cold sores, then this is practically no chance at all.
If it is HSV1, then more likely you'd have experienced lesions. Even if you tests positive for HSV1, there will always be the suspicion that it is in fact an oral infection.
I'd suggest this is a fungal or bacterial issue, low grade but persistent. If something more like a lesion appears get it swabbed for HSV.
