Concerned and Confused about HSV 1

I'm a male that had a one year relationship with a women that I found out was HSV-1 positive. She told me she would get a lesion on her nose every few years. We had protected sex but unprotected oral sex during that year. I never noticed a lesion on her or me during our time together. I know I was HSV-1 negative before the relationship which ended 82 days ago. I never had any symptoms, but 4 days ago I develop a small rash on my upper inner thigh right in the crease of my groin area. No blisters, no pain, no itching, and no burning to speak of.

1. Could this rash be an HSV-1 outbreak?

2. Should I get tested?

3. I've heard I should wait anywhere from 3-24 weeks after last exposure to test for hsv1. I'm confused about when to test if I do. What's the right amount of time to wait? Are there number to support this? Like, 99% of adults seroconvert at 12 weeks?

You do not have to feel depressed about the condition. Thousands of people all over are suffering from the same agony and pain. You have make changes in your lifestyle and diet to feel healthy and live longer. It is understandable, and responsible of you, to want to check your health status before becoming sexually active with your new partner. You can have a discussion with your partner about this. It seems difficult to initiate this conversation, you'll learn more about yourself and about the other person. This information might encourage you to move forward into the new relationship.

Wouldn't 16 weeks be better than 12 weeks?

this doesn't sound at all like it's genital herpes going on. It's more than one lesion at at this point, you would've had a recurrence of genital hsv1, not an initial ob.  See your doctor but sounds like irritation or even jock itch going on.

test at 12 and is very reliable. Or have the rash swabbed with a PCR test to see whats causing it if your overly concerned.

Would you test at 12 weeks? And if so, how reliable would that test be?

Hi, you should post in the herpes forum but to answer here, it would not appear your having a herpes outbreak. Of course only testing would confirm but its the wrong area from her giving your oral sex. Any outbreaks first time would most often be on your shaft as this is where the rubbing takes place that is necessary for the virus to be forced into the nerve.
Not a bad idea to test just to confirm your status.
