You will be ok. Remember, the primary outbreak typically is usually the very worst. Stay consistent with your antivirals, and as fleetwood mentioned, give your body time to develop antibodies to fight the new infection.
Fleetwood is correct on this. It's why you're in such pain. All will subside. Well wishes!
They took blood and cultures at the hospital . I haven't heard yet. I see my gyno again on Monday If this is mild I'm afraid what severe looks and feels like. I have sores from the front all the way back and on my rectum . I'm trying not to stress but it's hard. And my husband tells me his daughter would rather have had sores on her genitals rather then her face. I don't think he fully understands how painful this is. Thanks for listening to me.
I'm sorry you're in such pain. It sounds like you have contracted Hsv1 if your husband had a cold sore during oral sex. I can say from what I gather, the first outbreak is the worst and typically are less severe and recurrent after the primary.
On a slight positive note, HSV1 is not aggressive as HSV2 in the genital area. Do you have any sores? Have them been swabbed to see which type they are?
Valtrex is your best bet at this point and rest. I know it's tough in the moment going through all the discomfort, but you will be fine once the antivirals kick in. I wouldn't expect many recurrent episodes after this passes if it is indeed type 1.
Hope you feel better real soon!
This certainly sounds like a primary outbreak of herpes. I assume you have had a positive swab?
Without any HSV antibodies, the virus is wreaking some havoc with you to say the least. The good news is that in all likelihood your body will be extremely effective over time in addressing the virus. Recurrences will most likely be limited to a single small patch.
Find out the type. HSV1 in the genital area is mild for most people and many do not experience a further outbreak at all after the first six months.
