FALSE POSITIVES

Dear Grace or Mistakeguy, im still wondering about my 2.5 false positive (remember i got <0.91 three years later and never had symptoms) i just wish i understood what could have caused the 2.5 reading--- is that a high reading? because it happened after unprotected sex that the guy gave me "trich" too and i had to take antibiotics. (that s.o.b. )

at what reading, e.g. 3, 4, 5, do you know it can't be a false positive? what could have cuased it? can exposure cause the false positive or can any other infection cause the false positive on an IGG herpes 2 specific test?

thanks again. sorry if im thickheaded your work is very kind to us laypeople

Grace, the site doesn't really have a way to find one's original post very easily to add for it, and as far as bumping up the false positves on the forum, there's no  way to do a search--- i've never been able to find my original post to add to it sorry for this inconvenience

it's most helpful if you just keep adding to your original post instead of making new ones each time. this is asked in our read before posting post on the forum. thank you for your future cooperation with this.

the highest risks of false positives are 3.5 and under but I personally recommend anyone with a hsv2 igg of less than 5 who can't recall any genital symptoms confirming their status with an additional test.   we have a whole post on false positives here on the forum with links to more reading. I'll bump it back up to the top for you to find easily.
