Tingling/Burning question

I was diagnosed a year ago by culture for 2.  Question, I take anti virals daily and have not had an outbreak since.  But, I have an almost constant feeling in my pubic area at around the location that I had the outbreak.  Its not painful, its just a little burning/tingling feeling.  It is very annoying.  I admit on some days I don't notice it but most days out the week I feel it.  Is this happening because the virus wants to come up and break out??  Any suggestions on how to get rid of this feeling.  I can't imagine having this feeling for the rest of my life.  At first I was grateful that it was on my pubic area and not my penis but not Im not sure.  Is it possible I had nerve damage.  Will it eventually go away??  Any help and advice would be great. Is is some things I was thinking

Stop taking the anti virals and let the virus come up
Find something to rub on the area to get rid of the burning.  Any suggestions
Change anti virals.  I take two a day

some folks do develop neuralgia's from the herpes antivirals. worth stopping for a week or two to see if you are one of those.   if that doesn't help, it's worth seeing the urologist for further evaluation.

I have not seen a urologist about this.  This is very difficult. because I don't know which doctors have enough experience in the subject to help me.  I don't want to go from doctor to doctor.  I wasted a lot of time and money before.  I went from doctor to doctor about the first outbreak and every doctor said it was not hsv.  It took a second ob and a culture to verify my fears.

Why do you suggest I stop using acyclovir??  Is this a known problem with taking it??  I am very afraid of getting off of it because I don't want another ob.

Im not sure getting a WB is possible.  She doesn't have insurance.

it's worth her getting a herpes WB to know her status to know if you are still needing to reduce her risk of contracting hsv2 from you.

have you seen an urologist about all of this?

I'd also try stopping the acyclovir for a week or two to see if this gets better. also you might need to stop the pain/itch cycle at this point too. you could try applying topical lidocaine to the area that is bothersome a few times a day for a week and see if that helps too.  dermoplast spray would be ok too ( the blue can for the genital area, not the red can ).

Yes and she tested like a 2.8 which I know means she can have a false positive.  She has never had any symptoms that she or I know of.  I got my first outbreak about 6 months after starting my relationship with her.  Im not sure if I got it from her but I think I did.  We did have a short break where I had protected sex with another girl for about 10 minutes.  I know the odds are that I got it from her because we always had unprotected but I was never sure because of the other girl and the outbreak happening in the same month. As of now I have been with her going on 2 years.  What do you suggest I do grace??  I want this tingling to go away but don't know how to.  Its so frustrating.

Yes it is acyclovir.  What do you recommend for me??  What type of doctor should I see???  It might be just that but it didnt happen until after I contacted it.  It does not cause me any sleepless nights but It is extremely annoying.  Sometimes I feel my penis feels sensitive too.  Believe me its not a mind thing.  Something is different down there.  I thought maybe its the virus trying to become active but is being held back.  Do you have any recommendations for what I can do??

are you taking acyclovir?

is this sensation due to herpes trying to be active? no it is not. sounds more like just something like sensitive skin that  you are very hyper aware of in that area.
