Bump on Penis 17 days after HJ

Hey Herpes Community,

I haven't had unprotected sex in years. Unfortunately, I went to a seedy massage parlor exactly 20 days ago now. I only received a hand job and was given a damp towel to clean up with. I didn't think much about it as I understand that this type of thing usually presents no risk.

However...

Symptoms:
-burning sensation on penis shaft 10 days after exposure.
-flu like symptoms 11 days after exposure. These symptoms included what felt like a low grade fever, nausea, sleepless nights, waking up sweating. They lasted about a week.
-a SMALL pin head sized bump appeared 17 days after exposure.

Does this timetable make any sense for STD transmission?
Does it point to a herpes outbreak?
Am I overthinking this?

Any help is appreciated.

I wouldn't even recommend testing after this no risk event. I agree with your Dr on all counts including researching hsv symptoms. All this will do is fuel your anxiety and fear. You were not at risk for hsv.
The fact your bump hasn't progressed clearly says not herpes.

Hsv igg tests are a good indicator at 8 weeks as over 80% of people would test positive by then. 12 weeks is conclusive.

2. It's very hard to say without actually seeing what's going on. I would suggest a dermatologist. I highly doubt hsv is responsible and surely not from the hand job.

3.definitely not from whitlow. Whitlow doesn't shed, so she would have to actually be having an outbreak. Whitlow is very painful and I highly doubt she would use that hand. Not to mention your bumps do not sound like hsv lesions.

It can be for sure. I have never had a forum member get hsv from a hand job. I really do not suspect hsv at all. Std's are just not spread this way.

It's been a over 6 weeks since my "exposure," a full month since my initial symptoms began, and I'm almost 4 weeks past my primary bump appearance.

I just wanted to update you and say that I've talked to Terri at the Westover heights forum. She says it doesn't sound like HSV.

However, I've had another bump begin to appear in close proximity to the original. The original bump has gone down in size but is still present. These bumps aren't anything I would consider painful. Rather, they tend to sting/burn/itch in the morning. They don't really fill with fluid and don't appear to open into ulcers. I'm not seeing a full fledged outbreak like many others experience.

I don't know what's happening. I'm thinking about getting a full panel test to rule everything out. I know that seems silly, due to what is seen as "no risk." I just don't want to spread whatever this is to anyone. I've also convinced myself to see a dermatologist as this seems to be more of a skin issue than anything.

1.) would an STD and HerpeSelect IgG test be accurate enough for an idea of what's happening at 7 weeks?

2.) If it's not herpes do you have any ideas as to what's going on?

3.) If it is herpes would it be more likely to have been given to me 7 years ago by my only other sexual partner or by some herpetic whitlow transfer from the massage?

Thanks so much for your patience through all of this. You've been a calming voice in the midst of a lot of anxiety.

Just wanted to update you as you seem interested in this field. I'm not sure of your level of medical experience but your correspondence has been nice.

It's been over a month since my potential "exposure." The week following my last dr. visit was a good one. I had little to no itching or burning. The bump has remained the same. It's not growing or shrinking.

However, yesterday i really felt my lower back and upper quads tense up. That feeling was accompanied by more burning/itching on the shaft of my penis in the same place.

I don't know what's going on but my back certainly hurts. I'm peeing a lot. and my quads are very tense. Could this be CPPS caused by stress over the situation?

Hsv lesions progress quickly. No change in four days is a good thing as far as hsv is concerned. Again zero risk from handjob. Let me know what the clinic thinks please

So I went to the clinic and they agreed that it's extremely low risk. He said if,  "can you contract herpes from a hj"  were on a multiple choice question the answer would be no.

He took a look at the bump and said that it didn't look like herpes or hpv. He also Took note that it wasn't really filled with any fluid. He said that it wasn't bacterial as well. Basically, he told me to get off the internet, stop touching it, and wait to see if it heals or comes back. Apparently he thinks my symptoms were largely anxiety related.

My skin still burns/itches. At this point I'm thinking that a change in laundry detergent mixed with some new synthetic boxer briefs could be the cause of my burning/itching skin on the shaft. I get relief with lotromin cream (idk why when that deals with bacteria).

My question to you is this. Having experienced the symptoms I did from this encounter, should I get tested? If so, should I wait 4-6 weeks or the full 3 months before testing?

Thanks for your prayers input.

Last night I slept terribly and woke up in a pool of sweat. I've noticed no change in the small bump on my penis shaft over the last 4 days. I'm going to go to a GUM clinic tomorrow to get it looked at.

I am freaking out. I'm almost certain it would be my luck to get herpes from this dumb interaction.

You are over thinking this. You had a no risk encounter. Flu like symptoms without hsv include lesions at the same time. None of this adds up for a primary hsv outbreak. The vast majority will have the primary outbreak 3-10 days after contracting the virus. You needn't be worried. That being said it's never a bad idea to consult your physician if you need further reassurance.
