Forty years before an outbreak?

My husband tells me he has been faithful through our marriage of forty years.  I have also been faithful.  I have Herpes 2, however, that was just diagnosed.  Could this have been dormant for forty years?

Should I manifest doubts I never had before?

Thanks~~

my husband is hsv 1.  my test came back hsv 2 from the swab.  I have since had the blood test to confirm my diagnosis.  How can this be when I have not been with anyone else and he is hsv 1?  Doesn't even make sense!

When they did the swab, do you know if it came back specifically as hsv2 or just hsv+ and presumed hsv2 since it was genital?

I certainly agree with candy , hubby needs tested to know his status too. It won't answer the question of if he's had other partners in the last 40 years but you do need to know who has what at this point in order to decide what precautions to take for sex from here on out.

my greatest fear is that my husband has not been faithful in the recent past

prior to forty years, we did each have one other partner.

I was tested with a swab.

Thanks!

did either of you ever have partners prior to meeting each other?

How were you diagnosed as having hsv2?
