the test you used isn't so accurate and it's well worth confirming your status with different testing. are you in the US now?
Hi Grace,
No, I haven't tested in USA. Anyways, I showed my results to a lab guy and he confirmed that I have HSV2..
I really don't know how to explain that to my new partner.. I Have been reading a lot online and kind of depressed..
were you tested in the US?
Since this is questionable i would retest to confirm.
Hi
I see.. well, the test I've got considers below 9 is negative; between 9 to 11 on border which you might consider as false positive, and over 11 is positive..
Let's say 9 as 3 and 11 as 4.. if this is the case 21 might be valued as 7 an still does't fall into false positive section.. I wish it could fall into false positive group though..
But it might be a false postive is what we are getting at.
Yes, HSV2 IgG is positive..
I'd like to acknowledge you that I don't have any outbreak though..
Hi,
Sure, it's HSV 2 IgG positive and HSV 2 IgM Negative..
Nancy please confirm what Grace is requesting and the issue here is a false positive issue. We dont use igM only igG type specific.
I believe we might have a language barrier here too. Can you be sure that your herpes igg was type specific and not a combined hsv1/hsv2 igg? thanks!
Hello,
I've been reading a lot lately so, what I understand is HSV2 IgM shows that your current situation such as if you have an outbreak or not and IgG is more historical such as you are carrier or not..would you please correct me if I'm wrong.. because I'm really freaking out as I've never experienced any outbreak at all..
The test range might be different as you've stated. Although it's still considered positive..
Hi Nancy and welcome. Its shows that the igG came out positive with value of 21.1 where 11 and below would be negative. With the type specific tests done here most use the igG where anything above 1.2 would be positive but also any value 3.5 and below might be a false positive and would need another test to confirm.
Im not sure about the test you had but it may fall into the false positive catagory as well. I would suggest to ask the clinic if they have a false positive ratio number or to retest as 21.1 does not appear that high.
