Herpes Transmission

Have a new sex partner and he has not been tested recently so we did not have vaginal sex because we didn't have a condom.
He did perform oral sex on me and fingered me and I started to give him a hand job but we stopped before either of us had orgasm. Can I contract any type of herpes from him on my genitals even if he has never showed symptoms of any sores or breakouts? and is it possible to get herpes on my hand from his precum? My hand did not touch anything but soap several minutes after i first touched him. Same questions for all other stds as well including hpv.

Most HSV transmission occurs in the absence of symptoms. Up to 90% of people with HSV are unaware they have the virus because of a lack of recognizable symptoms.

Oral HSV-1 can be transmitted to the genitals via oral sex, even without symptoms. The asymptomatic shedding rate of HSV-1, according to a 2008 study, is 12% of days - 44 days out of the year. This could happen anytime.

The only way he could have given you the virus with his fingers is if he had an active outbreak of herpes whitlow on his fingers.

You didn't get herpes on your hand unless you had a portal (cut, wound, tear, abrasion, etc.) that came in contact with the virus.

I recommend you get an IgG type-specific blood test, to give yourself a baseline for a future test. It may come back negative if you have a new infection. You should then re-test at 16 weeks past exposure to determine whether any antibodies have generated enough to trigger a positive result. Please don't worry until there's something to worry about. There is a better chance you do NOT have the virus.

Hi, the only risk would be from the oral and if he did not have an obvious lip sore at the time the risk would be quite low as shedding doesnot occur that ofter.
