Ive see it customary lately that when couples breakup and find a new partner they get tested for all stds which is good. If you test postive for hsv1 and never had a breakout it was mostlikely acquired from childhood from sharing drippling toys and nothing to be concerned about.
If a test is positive for hsv1 with a breakout now being cautious would be the order of the day and if positve for hsv2 also caution would be recommended during breakouts.
Thats why the test would be benificial in your situation
No i don't have any breakout, but I am concern that a mistake 5 months ago with another girl, infected me (I guess its a fear that I have) and unknowingly I passed on to my girl. I tested for hiv, clap and gor after 2 months and all neg. Have no sympton of sypilus and i had vac taken for hep ab in 2009. So hopefully good there. But this fear is just killing me.
But why are you concerned, did you have a breakout?
Thanks Life 360, only concern I have with the test that it won't tell me if virus was from 11 years ago or its from the recent 5 months ago incident. I believe, I nor the girl I am with for 11 years (except incident 5 months ago involving me and another girl) had any breakouts. Pls advise bc last 5 months are the toughest and most regretable. Thanks
It a good sign but testing confirms questions.
So if there are no breakout in a healthy male for 5 months does that mean, neg for herpes (hopefully)
herpes specific tells u the type. Most people have hsv1. all test cant tell if its old or new. The best test is the herpes specific or the immnoblot.
Also which test is more accurate and will that test tell if the infection is an old or recent infection? Thanks
