Herpes or not?!

This summer, I received oral sex from my female partner while she had a cold sore.  Having had cold sores in the past but no symptoms in several years, I was under the impression that the risk of genital infection was very low.  However, I have had some symptoms that give me serious cause for concern.

Some couple of weeks after oral sex, the I noticed white patchy spots inside my urethra and two small scabs on the outside of my penis but right next to the opening of the penis.  There was no pain or itching.  At the same time, my partner developed a painful infection on the outside of her vagina (labia majora).  Within 3-4 days of noticing my symptoms, I had a swab test performed.  It came back negative.  At the same time, my partner had a pretty bad yeast infection, and I thought perhaps that it was simply a yeast infection that entered my urethra.

About 4 weeks later, I developed small blisters on the underside of my penis.  I also have pearly penile papules and the blisters (3) developed at the site of the papules.  I went to an STD clinic the the Nurse Practitioner looked at my symptoms and said that the one blister that was noticeable at the time did not look anything like herpes and she refused to a do a herpes test.  The blisters did not occur at the same time, but sequentially.  Each time, it appears that the papule has either been reduced or disappeared all together. Itching did occur after one was in the healing stage.  Itching lasted for about a day.

Also, my partner has not had anymore genital symptoms.  But did develop another oral cold sore. (She had recently acquired the infection and has had two outbreaks in total.  Oral sex occured during the first)

Next, I plan to have a bloodtest to rule out the possibility of HSV-2, but am still concerned that i have genital HSV-1.

So my questions are:
1) Do the genital symptoms of HSV-1 and HSV-2 differ in anyway?
2) Can yeast infections infect a man's urethra without severe itching?
3) If it isnt herpes, then what could it be? Or does it sound like it is probably herpes?
4) Do pearly penile papules become inflamed and disappear for some people?

Thanks for your help.

It's not likely that you'll get hsv1 genitally but you still shouldn't be allowing anyone with an active cold sore present to perform oral on you for your safety and for theirs too. A cold sore is an open portal into the body and you don't want germs from the genital area getting into it.

The only way to diagnose hsv1 genitally for you would be from a culture and typing of active lesions.

You and your bf both need tested for hsv2 in order to see if it's a part of your relationship or not.
