My IOS device won't allow me to upload a picture, but there is one blister on the bottom palm of her hand that is almost the size of a penny and it's really red around the blister. The blister itself is flat not raised like it's gonna burst. And when I feel or push down on it feels almost like a lump/ bump
This does not sound like a herpes lesion at all. There are a number of things it could be so I'd see a doctor quickly (hand, foot and mouth for example).
Your daughter is not at risk of any genital HSV2 infection you may have, although I suspect there is no reason to assume you do have one.
I also wanted to comment that she had the same blister to appear on her palm about a month and a half ago on the same hand, it was about the same size and was deep-seated in the palm just like the one she has now. It never burst open or turned into a sore it just gradually went down within a week and a half, but left her hand red in that area so that means whatever it is, it's definitely recurrent. So that automatically put herpes in my mind. She has an apt to see an allergist tomorrow morning to see if she have skin allergens, next will be a dermatologist. Her pediatrician just says its scabies but I know that can't be it looks nothin like scabies. is there any other way I can send you a picture of her hand?
Herpes should never have entered your mind. Seek medical advice for the diagnosis. Online pictures do not help in this regard.
Most likely just to rule out herpes. By the way, Whitlow is rare and most at risk are in the dental profession and the finger is the common place for an outbreak not the palm. Also whitlow turns into a open blister that very painful not just a red mark that goes away on its own. I would not be concerned about whitlow at all as for her to contract it, she would have to rub her finger into an open lip sore that someone was having and im sure that did not happen.
Okay, so worst case scenario it turns out to be whitlow, due to my probable case of having hsv-2 (don't know for sure I have it yet) would child protective services be contacted being that hsv-2 is an std? If it is whitlow I can honestly say that there is definitely no abuse obviously because it's only on her palm. The only thing I could think of is we sometimes showered together but not during the outbreak I had. We ALWAYS used separate towels and she was not even close to the area where I had an "outbreak" (around anus). im sorry for all the questions but I'm a bit frightened and shaken up by this.
The pediatrician doctor said it was scabies, and it's not. I took her to an allergist just to rule out any allergies 2 days ago and the allergist said it was not scabies and that they said it was and prescribed her cream just to make sure that if it was they wouldn't miss it. The allergist also said it did not look like whitlow either . But you can never be sure because all the info on the web about whitlow is so conflicting. I can't be tested until I have enough money to do so my insurance won't cover it. But I have been taking the necessary precautions just in case I do have it. My daughter will be tested soon when she goes back to the allergist.
With hsv1 there is the slightest possiblility like sharing lip gloss and such but even at that its would be highly rare and under special conditions but with hsv2, no it would not as needs direct contact to the genital area even to be at risk.
Okay I have one more question, if a mother had herpes while she was pregnant and didn't know it, nor show any signs of an outbreak during delivery and the baby came out fine during the first few weeks/months-1 year does that automatically mean the baby did not catch the virus from its mother? Or can it lie dormant in the baby's system and come out in child hood years.
First of all most and i would say all pregant mothers get tested for herpes but if she did not and had herpes and infected the baby during birth, the baby would have been terribley sick and possibly even died from it.. If the baby did not have any symptoms of a terribly sick child then the baby did not contract it at birth. It would not lie dorment in the baby.
