Herpes?

This is kind of a long story.  I began getting an itchiness in my lady area last week. Immediately I'd thought it was herpes but my mom convinced me that it could be a yeast infection. Looking up the symptoms of each, I had more similarities with a yeast infection (bumps, itchiness, burning, discharge, change in urine color/smell). Although the bumps, burning, and itchiness are also contributed to herpes, I was very hopeful that it was just a severe yeast infection. I've never had a yeast infection before but when my mom would get them, she'd be in a lot of pain and I don't know much about my fathers family medical history. I couldn't get a OBGYN appointment till this up coming Friday so I went to the health department yesterday. The nurse, although polite, didn't say one word about a yeast infection and as soon as she saw my area, said it was herpes. Of course I cried but then I decided I just needed to live with the consequences. She still took a swab to test but she prescribed me acyclovir for the itchiness and burning. I took the doses she prescribed but now my condition is worse. I literally woke up in the middle of the night because the pain was starting to get to me. Because the medications not effecting me, could it just be a severe yeast infection that the medications just making worse? I've read stories of doctors diagnosing herpes when they see it and then the tests coming back negative but I won't know for sure till next Monday.

2 weeks is the average and healing in 3-4 days not common but possible.

Is 2 weeks the norm Life? Can herpes lesions outside of the primary heal in 3-4 days if not taking antiviral medication or is that not common for the herpes cycle.

I would advise a IGG blood test to the thread starter and see if HSV1 is what you contracted or HSV2 since your encounter didn't mention being negative for type 2.

Also a year ago is a year ago, has he had any other sexual partners since?

Herpes is not an infection that causes puss but is a viral issue that produces clear liquid that it lives in.

So judging by symptoms and whatnot, a yeast infection is more probable? Most people I've spoken with think so and I understand it's not for sure. It's just, my symptoms are more similar to a yeast infection or even a bacterial infection.

Testing would confirm but since you had the yeast its most likely from that.

Yes I am sexually active. I spoke with the last guy I was with and according to him, I'm the only girl he's been since September. The last guy I was with was the April 19th and the bumps appeared about 5 days later.

Hi, this is a very common story where a medical person assumes it herpes. Only testing would confirm this. Its good you had the swab but a blood test would also be informative as a swab is only good to show a positive, meaning if it comes back negative you still could have herpes. Swabs show many false negatives from the nature of the test.
It is very common to have these sores breakout with a yeast infection as it is fungal in nature and causes an imbalance in your vaginal areas pH level and causes itching and any number of irritations that would make sore appear. Are  you sexually active and if so when was your last exposure and when did the sores develop after the exposure, exposure meaning genital to genital rubbing and grinding.
