worrying

After a random kissing episode (french)  I got something that resembled a cold sore 3 weeks after. However it wasnt severe, lastged only 3-4 days, didnt scab  yellow.

I went to the doctor 3 days after it showed,it was healing and was swabbed by PCR. ( the doc said PCR is very sensative and should pick up DNA still)

They also did a bioplex HSV-1/2 blood test.( 3 weeks after)

All these were negative.

I tested again 5 weeks & 8 weeks.

The docor said more testing is needed as 3 negative tests and PCR is enough to prove it.

Can a HSV specialist advise should I be concerned and have more testing? As im scared of passing it on.
How accurate are the HSV bioplex tests for hsv-1?

Hi,

Dr Terry from here says herpes select test misses 1 in 10 HSV1 . Does this mean bioplex is even more accurate for HSV-1?

If 8 weeks is a good indicator , do I need more testing?

I'm not sure if they had mouth sores.

Hi, if she didnot have any lip sore at the time the risk you contracted hsv would be close to zero and testing at 8 weeks is a good indicator and the bioplex is also 95% accurate.
