I am a 21 year old student from a middle class family living in Zimbawe.  I study at the university and work part time to cover my expenses.  I am struggling in fear since some years.

When I was 19 year old in 2010 I made a stupid mistake.  I had sex with a prostitute after a drunken night party (party at work) in August 2010.   In the act the condom slipped and I penetrated her for more that 1 minute or so (but not more than 2 minute) without condom.  She also did unprotected oral sex. I realised it and got really worried about HIV.  

Prior to this I had sex with some girls, like 3 or 4 and once a broken condom unnoticed with a girl.  I had ejaculated inside her..  The girls were kinda like swingers and had many sexual partners but I had used condom with them though we had unprotected oral sex.

Meanwhile after some days or weeks ( i do not remember when exactly) I had burning urination.  Just burning at the tip and no other symptoms.  I did not see any blisters or anything on my penis.  Just the burning at the tip just after urine was out.  I drank plenty of water and had a urine alkaliniser cytra or something like that.  It cleared up in 6 days perhaps.  I remember it was less than a week.  I had no pain when not urinating.

I went to doctor for frequent urination in december 2010 for frequent urination problems that lasted for quite a long time.  He told me it was stress.

I started seeing a doctor for tests since January 2011.  I tested negative for HIV and was relieved.  However I heard herpes could have caused my urethritis.  I tested for it in jan 2011, April 2011, July 2011, August 2011, December 2011, and April 2012.  All my tests were TYPE NON SPECIFIC TESTS.  It is the only available here.  It was my fear of herpetic urethritis which made me do the tests.  I was worried.  My doctor said I am ok now and the burning in 2010 was not due to herpes.  I feared my test not accurate and missed HSV1 infection perhaps as I read on the forum.

Still I had some doubt.  I recently googled these things and came up with Dr. Hansfield post where he said that these tests are Highly Reliable when negative. I also read Terri warren saying that the test is useful only when negative.  All this gave me some courage and confidence. Mine has been always negative.

It has been two years nearly and I never even had a girlfriend yet.  I never dated anyone with fear to infect them.  I am really really really depressed.  I want to be sure I am herpes free and that burning urination was not by herpes.

Please advise me if I can move on from herpes now after all these negative testing. I want to have a normal life without fear to infect anybody and I want have a family one day.  I have not touched a single girl in 2 years though I got propositions;( to go out with many.  I am quite handsome:)

Please help me.

please be patient. no one here will be able to follow your post if you keep posting like this.

yes, non type specific tests are ok when it comes to negative tests. if you were tested 3-4 months after latest sexual exposure, you're fine.
besides, your symptoms do not sound like herpes at all. herpetic urethritis it VERY painful, most people describe as the worst pain ever. so no, you are not experiencing it.

the post of dr HHH on reliability of herpes NON TYPE SPECIFIC TEST.

I feared herpes urethritis.  but i had no lesion on my penis head.  I had not looked closely at my genitals at that time but when masturbating or bathing, i noticed nothing as such.  

Dr hook once said that he never saw a case of herpes urethritis without obvious external lesions.  I cannot find the post though at this moment.  Dr HHH had said that it is most unusual to have herpes urethritis without any visible external lesion.

My tests have been consistently negative.  Can I forget herpes now?

I did not even kiss anybody - not even little kieds on the cheeks (let alone lips!!)..I feared to infect them.

I want to know if my symptoms seemed like herpes urethritis and if my tests ok?  ( Local Doctor said I over tested)

Please note that I had no external lesions when i got burning pee.  It was just burning pee and not too severe.  I forgot about it in less than a week when I drank water and cytra.  I saw no doctor though and took no medicine.  And MY iGG combined non type specific results are always negative.  

I am afraid to infect my partner.  But I never had any lesions in my whole life.

Please help me. Am I herpes free based on my repeated IGG negative results?

for a note... I masturbated daily during that time of burning urination few days and I got no pain when masturbating at all.  

Burning was just when peeing near penis end (urethra end).  It went away with water and sodium citrate based urinary alkaliniser in just a few days.  There was nothing like lesions and all.  I saw none hopefully.  Never.

I have examined my genitals daily for all this two years nearly 3-5 times daily.  It has been hell and my back has ached because of it.

I want to be myself now.

I saw grace here.  Can you please answer me when you can?  I think the burning pee healed in less than 6 days.. I really do not remember much from that time (2 years now)... But all my results are negative and doctors say I do not have herpes.  Here on STD forum also I saw some posts concerning NON TYPE SPECIFIC TEST where the Dr HOOk and DR HHH told patients to believe their results that they do not have herpes and move on.  Dr HHH even said in 1 post that the results after 4 months are definitive.

However I found no one with symptoms like mine.

Mine is just a tiny bit burning urination for a few days.  I do not know when after sex it started.  Perhaps one week or more or less but I really cannot remember. I never had blisters or sores or whatsoever.  The CSW had some pain in her vagina though.  She told me after sex.  She said it was sensitive or something like that.  I read about herpes first time in 2010.  I never knew it before. And since 2010 I have been testing repeatedly.


I love my parents.  I want to be someone in life.

I am torn between final year exams, my past, and my secret love.  I do not want to die or take away my life..

I want to stop worrying because of this.

Please help me.. I am in real anxiety because of this.

I never had any discharge or whatsoever form my penis.  I never saw anything like that.  I took antibiotics for burning urination in 2011 for frequent urination and it worked.

I never had sex ever after that.  I developed a fear.  Please advise me what I should do now?  Can I safely move on based on my repeated -ve results?  Do I have any reason to think that it was herpes urethritis or am i just being irrational? please help me.. please.

I really do not remember when the symptoms of the burning urination appeared after the encounter.  It was not during the first week though I guess.  I am not so sure however. I really forgot.

Am I ok now?  My results show no herpes... I have met a girl.. I want to be in a relationship but not until am sure am ok!

I had urine test in January and march 2010.  All was negative.  When I had frequent urination in 2011, I tested again and urine detected some WBC and some crystals.  I heard herpes causes WBC count increase in urine.  However I never had any oral or genital blister.  NEVER

I self examined myself s daily for two years and saw doctors also. Never saw a damn thing.  Please help me.  I have had enough of this.

I am also negative for all other existing STDs.

I swear never to have sex with any risky partner ever.  I have even stopped drinking and all.
