How does the igg blood test work
I'm curious as to how the igg herpes blood test works. Is there ratings on how low or high antibody levels are or is it just they are present or they're not?
That's a decription of the ELISA test method that is common in commercial testing.
The tests work by coating testing wells with antigen cells that have been produced by infecting animal organs with the virus; HSV1 or HSV2. The blood is cleansed and added to the testing well and antibodies as well as other proteins bind to the antigen with an enzyme that is colored. The ratio of the color intensity to the control color well is the index result. In theory, yes the more antibodies the deeper the color and higher the index result.
