Possible herpes or not.

Ok so I have been in a monogamous relationship for almost a year. My partner and I have sex between once and twice a week and have never had a warning signs of possible herpes. Not to long ago we had sex and there was no foreplay and I was pretty dry. Almost a week later he complains of a sore penis and says it hurts and feels like rug burn. I am nervous cause now its brought to my attention could this be herpes. I immediately went and got tested and the doctor said my check up went well and I appear to be healthy. I am however still waiting for lab results to come back.  I am hoping for some reassurance that we are both fine but what worries me is that one of us might have given it to each other and there is no real way to know. Couple questions. Could it just be irritated skin or could this be a indication of herpes. Also I have no symptoms but I hear that is common and I can't recall having any sort of outbreak (which are supposed to be really painful). He is still sore and it's been 6 days. Is that normally the time frame that outbreaks surface. Is it true that just because he has an outbreak I might not have one?any info would be appreciated as I'm not very patient and have to wait because even though the doctor said i looked good and healthy the labs will give the answers.

Hi. rug burn irritation does not fit herpes breakout symptoms and most often if and outbreak is coming, the sensation would not last this long. Topical irritations would be more from a fungus.
Also its true that if he has an outbreak and your positive as well, dosent mean you will have an outbreak.

Well my tests came back negative. What a relief and I went to pick them up so I had proof. He finally went today and was confessing how scared he was and then asked me if I had hepatis or HIV. How is it you think you know someone and they end up with stuff on their penis after you find out he made out with someone else three months prior but that's all he's done. So much for monogamous. If he's done that then maybe he's done more and if that's the case that might be he has something on his penis. Tbc if he ever speaks to me cause he is obviously likes to fall off the earth
